Jan you think maybe the hold up with a Shestys extension was the teams knew this big jump was coming? And they can get a better idea of what to give him now

I can’t understand how Coach Lav would have Fhilly back on the ice for one shift when he preaches safety first? Fhilly is mush and should have sat; best to retool this group as sitting fourth is not Gna cut it.

It wouldn't shock me. We discuss a few months ago that we thought the cap might rise more than expected. With the possible rise in the cap, it goes both ways. Agents might have waited to see what the number would be, as did teams. Hopefully this results in movement on both sides with a clearer number, at least on low end, known.

The doctor's might have cleared him. Coach doesn't make that initial decision. He could have decided not to put him on the ice. But if cleared by the doctors, have to make that call as the coach.

Not that I don’t agree with you about Jones and Schneider but Lavi is just as likely to bench Jones as he is to move them up to the second paring.

Even if chytil makes it back with only a minor amount of lost time. How long before it happens again?
The Rangers are in a position where they must make a move for a center

Completely agree with this. Imagine Chytil goes down again right after the TDL and they didn't make a move.

Unfortunately, with Chytil it is always a matter when not if.

I'm not sure i understand mangements position regarding Chytil. It's very clear he cannot play for any period of time without another collision accidental or not placing him in jeopardy of another concussion.

It's time for the organization and the player realize that his playing career is over before he becomes permanently concussed.

It's sad for such a young talented player, but that's the reality.

And we absolutely have pieces to get it done. It might hurt a little, but I think it’s necessary

Get a center that also could play right wing so that if fil actually returns for any amount of time, there’s a position for the player we pick up and also it’s up to chytil and a doctor to clear him whether he retires and not the Rangers organization.

For fil and his family it’s not only a matter of his health but maybe $50 million

Notes from Mollie Walker at the Rangers morning skate in Seattle:

- Jonathan Quick in goal tonight vs. Kraken
- Will Cuylle took first rep with the second power-play unit (amid Filip Chytil's absence), but Jacob Trouba rotated in, too

As picklerick noted above, Jimmy Vesey may be under the weather. Could we see Jake L on the fourth line?

1. I hope Chytil returns shortly and is able to have a long career. 2. Drury's refusal to acknowledge that this team needs another center is beyond short sighted. Cup winning teams are driven by rosters that are deep and solid down the middle. It sounds like Noah Laba is going to be good. He's not coming this year. Brodzinski filled in admirably last year. He brings some speed and hard work, but he's been an AHL player for most of his career and he's no spring chicken so there's not much upside. Wennberg was an upgrade, but hardly a difference maker. Asking a lot of Trocheck and Zibanejad who's obviously had his own struggles. As I recently heard Kevin Allen say, I'd rather give $11.5 to a center than a goalie. Amen. Problem is that despite some swings and misses,(Lias Andersson was the biggest), this team has only drafted one true NHL center since 2011,(Chytil). At that point, they'd drafted JT Milller, Derek Stepan, Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov in a short period of time. They drafted Dominic Moore prior to that and of course brought him back. The sayings that "you draft the best player available" and "you don't draft for position" makes some sense, but the Rangers have proven why those cannot be taken to an extreme. Not sure who could be available at the deadline. Brian Boyle and Larry Brooks discussed the possibility of asking Vesey or Cuylle or Kreider to play center. It would require some patience, but necessity is the mother of invention. Pavel Buchnevich may have played center in the KHL, but never to my knowledge with the Rangers. He's playing center in St. Louis.

Good to hear from Hartford that Mancini scored Friday and Rempe got one last night.

Reilly Smith might be the best option to play center of the non centers or maybe Laffy

I've always wondered if Lafreniere could be a center some day. I think he could handle it. I guess the question with both Lafreniere (and Cuylle) at this stage is, could it mess with their development?

Agree 💯 % on Smith.

I think a center has to be able to take the blue line and I’m not sure cuylle fits that bill.

Playing Laf at center opens up another hole on the right which we’ve been living with for a few seasons now

Agree, but always easier to find a wing at the deadline than a center. Yeah, Cuylle's a bull and his skating is much improved, but Lafreniere can drive the play.

It sucks that Chytil is out again and honestly time to move on. Kid needs to live a full life not one in a dark room. My big concern now is how Miller reacts to this. It's obviously not his fault but with his mental issues as of recent, I'm concerned his play will be impacted by this.
