It's a (frank)ing hit to the head.

This being said, if this was Slafkovsky, Leafs fans would tell us it was clean so (frank) ittttt.

that's the best news of the year! hits to the head are now legal, unless they are blindsided.

Brunette and the Preds getting a penalty last night for "not starting the official starting lineup".

I don't remember ever seen that before.

Imagine the chaos if St-Louis did that in Montreal.

ehh boy...

so I guess the Preds got a 2 min penalty to start the game? I would've thought this would result in a fine or something.

The AFL has a great system for suspensions, takes the bias out of it.
It is basically a system that grades the contact and the player and will spit out a suspension or penalty.

interesting, however I'm not sure if these should be evaluated as "intentional" vs "careless", intent isn't something that you can actually measure...

For the sake of judgement you can qualify as "intentional" based on the act and not necessarily the player. ie the Reaves hit would be qualified as intentional just for judgement purposes, you can tell by reviewing if it "looks" intentional or is just an "ohpoop" collision

The point is consistency regarding infractions, the players and coaches and GMs and league will know that the decisions are based purely on what happened and no judge bias. You check the boxes of the incident and then the system will dictate the punishment.
Its all about consistency and transparency

Yeah that what I was thinking Reeves was intentional and the knee on Laine was careless sort of deal

makes sense. personally I would still change the wording just for the sake of removing intent out of the equation but the logic behind it seems fine.

Yeah but at the same time it's normal to punish a guy more if he meant to injure the other player. But it's not easy, you're not in his head and it happens quickly
