they were better (and more interesting to watch) last year. don't know how they can call that progress.

can't argue against that, but unfortunately not all rebuilds (probably most) go in a linear progression, there's gonna be ups and downs. they're the 2nd youngest team in the league, so I'm not worried yet about the plan and the direction they're taking.

Personally, I just change the channel when I've seen enough.

This current lineup is a lost cause and nothing will change until a lot of contracts are gone ... if we're going to lose, we might as well give some roster spots to rookies in the hope they gain experience.

The current lineup is not going to get better.

you can't have a team with just rookies anyway, it would be even worse... the current veteran guys in the lineup obviously aren't all great, but at least they aren't being a bad influence on the younger guys, unlike maybe a player such as Hoffman could be lol.

read somewhere that Olivier in CLB is a pending UFA. I'd sign him. exactly what the doctor ordered.

isn't he a 3rd or 4th line guy though? not sure he'd move the needle that much on the habs roster, but I wouldn't mind if they got him for cheap, he looks tough as nails and probably can play decent hockey too.

yeah that's also what I had in mind, and he's a forward, so it's less costly for the team if he's in the penalty box or is expelled from the game.

He couldn't do worse than some of our dead wood on the roster.

I'm just curious about what CLB would be asking, I guess he'd be a TDL acquisition, and other teams might be interested in his services as well.

there's no guarantee he'll be available, if he fits in well with the team he's traded to and goes on a playoff run, not sure why he wouldn't want to simply sign a contract there.

I have no idea ... but I'm guessing (or hoping) that HuGo will be looking to make trades after the new year, something needs to be done to change the makeup of this team.

Some of our players are on expiring contracts and the team is going nowhere fast at this point, we have a poop ton of draft picks at the next draft.

I'd be curious to know the % of players who do that VS how many players sign with the team they were traded to.

I'd say most will test the market. often the buyer is a contender with no capspace, they just want a pending UFA for a cup run.
that's why Savard is probably gone and Matheson will stay. until next season.

I get what you're saying, but a guy like Olivier won't represent a huge cap hit either.
