Sanheim is better on the PP than given credit for. He's been their 2nd best producer rate wise both last season and this season. - MJL

You let MM and Frost ride for a while, tell Tip configure it out, if they do, be a good line.
One of Tip’s top jobs, should be using that speed with back pressure and back check. |

Yeah, should have been a no brainer. Frost was obviously feeling it tonight, so he has to get that chance. I guess the only reasoning that I can see in using Tippett there is that he is trying to get him going, but that's not the place or time. Might have been Frost's best game as a Flyer if he wouldn't have missed that open net on a brilliant setup by Michkov!

Frost has talent and he seemed confident. I know it’s not popular on this board to say, but I blame Torts. Frost’s overall lack of confidence comes from bad coaching and a very short leash.
Someone above said MM39 could have like 10 assists more if he could play with someone who could finish. I couldn’t agree more. This kid just sees the ice differently than most players and most of his amazing passes are wasted. |

Yes, it's uncanny how he always seems to find the open player. I don't really agree about Frost. While some of the blame certainly can be thrown Torts' way, I think the player needs to take responsibility for his actions. Frost is now 25 and he was given every chance to succeed at the beginning of this season. He just wasn't performing up to a level that he needs to. You think Torts would take him out of the lineup if he played like he did last night? Frost was virtually invisible the first 15 games of the season. He needs to bring it like he did last night as much as possible. He shows these flashes and then he disappears again...it is maddening. |

It was easily the best game of the season for Frost. The difference? He stopped being "cute" and went to the net on a regular basis, the tip in goal, the assist to Michkov, all b/c Frost was in the dirty area around the net instead of hanging out on the perimeter.
Farabee and Sanheim will have trouble sleeping tonight, too many great chances and nothing to show for them.
The lines are probably set for a while, time to let them develop some chemistry.
Worst game for Grans since his recall.
Risto was a beast, any PO team that watched this game started to salivate.
York looked a little rusty but is rounding back into form.
Fedotov was solid for a while, but didn't make a tough save and gave up an easy goal while Samsonov, after a shaky start, basically won the game for Vegas. |

Now if we can just get Tippett to go to the net. Ristolainen was outstanding last night. He was really good against Chicago. The problem with PO teams salivating is that they also probably watched the previous games where he has been mediocre at best the entire season. He has done this his entire career of over 700 games played. Shows glimpses and them resorts back to what he actually is. A mediocre NHL defenseman. I would be shocked if any NHL team would be willing to take on Ristolainen's contract in full |

Agree on most of what you said, but some gms look at the current year and not go to far back.

I just think his contract length is still really prohibitive. I will be surprised if he is traded this season.

Yeah, there will have to be retention. I don't see any team trading for him and 2 more years with any kind of deal the Flyers would like without it.

Ristolainen at full contract, not much trade value. Flyers retaining 50%, he would have some value where a team can use him in a depth role. Or the alternative of taking back an equally bad contract. The question is if the Flyers would be willing to retain. They would again next season be maxed out on retention slots.

It would depend on the return. Risto is playing a better game this year I think….no I will not say he’s a legit top pair…lol…but he can fit in a 2nd pairing for some teams and if a team is desperate enough then there might be an avenue to move him. Grans to me has looked really good…not like a guy who’s not ready for a chance…Macdonald might be ready for a look if needed in the 2nd half…so body wise Risto is the logical one to go. |

I'm just not sure that any playoff team is in that situation. Maybe if they have an injury late in the year around the trade deadline. I feel like there will be better options available who don't have 2 more years at 5.1 million. And I don't see any non playoff team trading for him.

Do people really think they will move Risto and hurt the playoff chances? I do not. I do also don’t think they want to move him.
If he is moved it will come down to timing. Take a look at who else may be available. Where would Risto rank on those lists? |

With 2 years left after this and that cap hit? Along with zero playoff experience....my guess would be well down the list.

On draft day there was an outside chance, but probably not anymore.
His ceiling is probably more along the lines of a guy who can eat a lot of minutes in a top-4 role, probably grow into the role of a defensive specialist -- if he gets his footwork in order.
I'd still happily move just about anybody not named Michkov for him. |

He's never gonna be that kind of player. His game is centered on breakaways/rushes from floating/cheating when he doesn't have the puck. Take that away from him and there's really not much left. |

Desperate is the key word. In my opinion, overall Ristolainen has continued to be mediocre. I think any team would have to be completely desperate to take on that contract as well as placing him in a top 4 role. Ristolainen on a playoff team, is a 3rd pair player. Grans is a 3rd pair guy at best at this point. Which is fine for a young player but there is already a back log with Drysdale and Zamula.

I am curious how much Waddell wants to tear down Jarko's team. Jiricek is gone, just a matter of when. Sillinger does make some sense and he is on a bridge deal. However, Lindstrom has not played this year- maybe Waddel might be reluctant to move young forwards.

Michkov is on pace for 30 goals this truly- pretty incredible considering the forwards around. Pretty sure that would be the best since Lindros rookie season-41 goals in 61 games- truly ridiculous. |
