To repost from last thread in response to JRR…was last year just an outlier for Trocheck? Maybe we have too high expectations for him

Also Zib is one of the worst contracts in the league. Too much money, too many years, no move clause throughout and buyout proof. What an anchor on this team

I don't think so, and I was not a huge Trocheck fan. I think he has simply fallen back to his old ways, he looks a lot more like an annoying Strome out there than the guy we saw last year. There's a lot more there.

He and others have lost their way. It's up to them and the coaching staff to get back on track. Other teams do this every year, face some serious adversity, get told they're washed/done/garbage and they end up turning it around.

This is the gut check moment for this team. There is no tomorrow. If they don't fix this there is a good chance of radical changes. Maybe they subconsciously want that? Either way, the Carolina game looks like the line in the sand to me.

Right now, I can't even argue it. But it doesn't have to end that way. You know if he gets shipped out he will be back to well over a PPG and the Rangers will be paying for some of it. It's just how it works.

Tro I think can still be solid. Not last year good but 2c worth. Zib is Brad Richards at the end

I'm not because we will have our answer at the conclusion of that game.

It’s funny but I think we get out shot 45-20 but will win 2-1. Igor will have a game

I meant like 12-1 final score lol

I think I’d healthy scratch Trouba and Zib. Idk if he’d do that but maybe that lights a fire

This is 100% a leadership issue & without it you lack accountability. Drury (frank)ed this team

I just don’t know how you fix it. You trade players if you don’t bring back the right ones it could get even worse. You don’t trade you see more of this. Igor isn’t signed yet so the future could be grim if he is just over this

I can’t trade Igor. I get the idea but we literally have no chance without him. This season may very well end up as a lost one as it’s trending that way. But next year regroup, dump whoever they can and move on with the kids and some new life

Between Chytil (with good health obv) Laf, Cuylle, Kakko, Jones, Schneider and potentially Perrault, Berard and othmann that’s a nice stable of kids to become the new “core”.

I think Panarin should be immune for all the nonsense along with Trocheck. But anyone else should be on the table to be moved, yes including Fox imo. I love Fox, but his size is a detriment on the top pair and he’s never been fast. Our d is very slow and soft. Get a defensman or two with size and more mobility and go from there

The thing is, if Panarin isn’t a part of the new core than maybe trading him is the best option. He could bring back a haul. Especially if this is a lost season

I think they should resign him to half of what he makes now. Which should be good enough considering his age

Regardless of how "lost" this team would be without Shesterkin, not sure I like that he is essentially holding them hostage.

You can't count on Chytil at this point unfortunately.

Trocheck should not be immune, he's at a .5 PPG pace. Fox however, should be. He is young enough and is a top end talent in the league.

With the cap going up and him being a 100 point player per year, I don’t see anyway he settles for half. His next contract will still be in the 8-10 million per year range.

Look at what stamkos just got

Just think of how many assets they could get for Fox is kind of what I mean. And jones is emerging which is only reason why I’d even mention it. They are the same exact skill set for a fraction of the cost

Trocheck is guilty by association right now imo. His contract is really a bargain

I get it, but Jones while appearing similar is unlikely to have even close to the same ceiling as Fox. I also think they could keep both if they pair them with proper shutdown large D-Men that can skate well.

Trocheck looks as bad as everyone else at this point. If he does not bump his production up I don't think of him as a bargain, but I think he can be much better.
