So if there is none, who is playing on your club if Seeler and Johnson and Hathaway are jettisoned? They won’t ice an AHL team no matter how much you want them to.
If you think players are ok with GMs wasting away their prime years in the nhl in support of “the plan” then you’re wrong. It’s not that black and white. Still gotta ice a team. None of those guys are in the picture long term - they are here to make the rough years a little bearable. Sure, you want to lose for that draft pick…
Michkov does not.
You can ice a competitive team without hurting your cap situation long term. I don’t think the flyers have done that yet. |

I'll bookmark this one. If the Flyers don't move on from Frost, Risto and Laughton by the deadline this season, then I will say you are completely right. At this point, its clear this Flyers team is 5th in the Metro and will probably stay right there as currently constituted. That means their 1st round pick this year is outside of the top 10. This does not move the needle whatsoever. These players needs to be traded, more young kids need to be brought up and the Flyers need to finish with at least a top 10 pick, preferably a top 5 pick in order to move tihs forward.
Torts yesterday said there are no FAs coming this year or next year. That these two years are for evaluating what the Flyers have. If that is the case, which I am excited about BTW, these players must be traded. I would further move on Farabee and Drysdale. - jd250
Not a chance all three get traded this season. Frost probably will be. I do not think Laughton or Risto get traded this season. The Flyers are not really willing to trade either and I do not think anyone is willing to overpay enough to entice them this season.

Tuomaala for sure. PPG in the AHL He deserves a shot. They will probably look to get Richard back up. On D I dont see the need for a call up. Move Risto and Drysdale slides back in or bring Grans back if Drysdale isnt ready.

On defense Grans should stay with the Fyers. On forward, Richard and Lycksell for sure, and then near the end of the season give Tuomaala a sniff and Abols for a potential 4th line center spot. |

Risto's value will never be higher, they will trade him. Laughton has fallen out of favor with Torts, he will be moved. |

I think Risto will go. They will look to make room on D. Id like them to move laughton but that might be a next year deal. I doint know what they will do with Frost. Im assuming Frost goes nowhere unless they got a replacement C. No one in the AHL seems to be knocking at C so it will have to be via trade or FA.

You have to remember Jett missed the part of the season at Geulf and more importantly, he is playing for a bad team right now. - jd250
Understood, he has about 10 games less than most on the list but he is still very low even on the OHL list of PPG. CHL it is even a wider margin. My hope is he gets traded to a better team.

None of the moves the flyers have made scream “win now” to me.
It’s almost like they are putting together a rag tag team of character/hard working guys that just aren’t that good. So that when they lose, they lose with class. With honor. With perspective.
I think it absolutely makes a difference the type of players and vets you lose with. You can either take something from it or sulk.
If the tank won’t come from torts, perhaps the call is coming from inside the house with some of DBs moves.
It’s like a Disney movie, the type of culture guys on this team. Perhaps the point is to have the best locker room guys who just can’t win a game… if you’re gonna lose - lose well
I also think they are winning more than they expected lately so it could backfire and they’ll be in the mushy middle, as someone put it |

DB seems to have paralysis when it comes to making trades. I would be downright shocked of Frost, Risto and Laughton are all traded this year.

I will be surprised if either is moved. Especially if they stay in the playoff hunt.

I want to see who thinks should be called up.
Again, you are missing the point. If you have GH in the last year of his deal that is fine. Adding 2 years to a 2 year deal is not. 4 years for Seller is terrible. It isn't about the player but the contract.
Well TK and Sanheim seem ok with wasting their prime here.

Samu is a -7, does that sound like a guy the coach will want to call up. any idea how he has played seems to have a lot of pp points. he is also a wing so tell who sits to make room?
Richard isn't a kid so you can exclude him. though ND should be waived to keep Richard. Give you more flexibility and saves a little on the cap as well. |

So they keep grans who is now your top 6? please post.
Richard isnt a kid. Ollie stinks. Abols lol. They have no one knocking on the door forward wise except maybe Samu. |

flyers never trade at high value (see laughton). knowing teams may be interested in risto, now danny is saying no way we trade him.
They will not hurt their playoff chances by dealing anyone at this time. more likely add. |

The Flyers aren’t trading Risto. He is playing well and the Flyers are allergic to dealing a player that is helping them win. Plus the coGM doesn’t have the gumption.
I could see them trying to move on from The Room as it is already past his expiration date and they may finally realize it. They overvalue their own player, however, so if the price isn’t met he stays. |

If we are still basing this all on the Michkov timeline, I don’t think the Hathaway deal really hurts us. If anything, it gives us a reason to move on from Delauriers. At least Hathaway and Seeler can play. I’m all for moving on from a goon if we have 2-3 hard nose guys that can fight and still play the game at a high level.
Seriously, how often this season have the flyers looked flat and it was Hathaway pressing the issue with sporadic drives to the net and goal scoring chances?

100% true and always has been. The Room should have been traded 2 years ago but DB decided the culture was too important. It's frankly ridiculous.

It’s funny.. Ristos value will never be higher and yet I could see the flyers getting blinded by it themselves and keeping him

It’s the corner they always paint themselves in unnecessarily. And that’s the giveaway that they aren’t really rebuilding.
CoGM DB isn’t making any of the hard decisions. |

I could see them trading Drysdale ahead of Risto at this point.

getting anything for him without retaining will be a win, which is why I'm glad he's playing well

Sort of like how Drysdale and Cutter were #5OA swaps, I was kind of hoping drysdale (and maybe +) could get you Jiricek. i thought CBJ said they wanted a similar young guy so it fit the bill (young defenseman, change of scenery, injury vs AHL-bound, #5 vs #6 OA). It would have at least put some distance between the Cutter situation.
but as it turns out what CBJ got for him looked much different.

Let's keep an eye out for the annual mid to late season Risto injury!
