I think sitting him for a game here and there is a good thing. I do not think can Michkov physically play an 82 game schedule and be at peak performance most nights. He needs rest.
But portraying the benching as some kind of come to Jesus moment is silly. He is the exact same player now as he was before. Just getting better results the last 10-15 games as the team has improved. - mickel25
I wouldn't be surprised if the Flyers had some sort of plan in place to strategically scratch him here and there if they feel he needs it. So far he seems to be holding up quite well. This 4 day break was, I am sure, a good break. Then he will have rest during the 4 nations for the stretch run.
IIRC the Ducks had a plan for Carlsson to do something similar his first season.
He may not need it in the end, but these kids coming over from Europe and Asia have never played this many games in one season, not even close.

I also do not understand why they cannot just say that if that was the plan.

I'm not sure this first 2 game scratch was part of the plan. But then again, they could have played that card last season when they threw Couturier under the bus and they didn't. Even though it would have been perfectly reasonable.
That goes back to what login says, maybe they aren't that smart.

I wonder if part of it is the Torts ego. The I will show them who is boss instead of giving cover and not having any controversy. If that makes sense |

yeah.
on a side note wonder what the flyers can offer buffalo in a trade? Admas has to be under immense pressure and willing to deal. Not even sure there is a fit.
other part is danny doesn't want to "mess" with this tight nit Lockeroom and def not willing to part with players of real value. |

Agree but if I was danny I would be kicking tires on young defenseman that are underperforming and see if you could trade, and i be willing to depart with Frost, bee, laughton, risto |

I am right with you. If they aren't playing for the US I 100% do not want them playing. If they are playing for the US I 98% do not want them playing. Mid season tourneys are dumb.
Of course I will watch. Assuming all games aren't on the NHL network or some other streaming service I don't have access to. - mickel25

Ducks were a lot more conservative with Carlsson. He played approx 1 out of every 3 games for the 1st half of the season

not sure how he is underachieving being his first full year in the NHL.
Anyway, they need to acquire that team's version of Frost or Farabee. Whoever that may end up being. |

It's not his first year.
Yes we possibly could basically get the same thing back but younger.
Frost is 27 be in his 30s before we are cup contenders.
But going after a 20 year old, might hold more upside in 5 years |

Close, but who's counting. It's also Shane Wright's first FULL year but details are overrated.

just got done watching the flyers daily interview with kolosov and michkov:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iZ73Vd_Epk
I sort of wish the flyers would go above and beyond and find a Russian assistant on the bench and really cater to this guy. and not just an interpreter - someone who really knows the game. not sure if that would be overkill but I don't want them to take any chances.

You have to learn to become unburdened by what has been, MJL. It's easier to evaluate trades when you learn this skill.

He has seasons in the NHL of 8 games (then went back to juniors), and 8 games the next season.
This year is his first full year in the NHL. You can play semantics if you want but he is a rookie, therefore it is his first year. |

I just put the stats out there for all to see. Thought it was interesting. I'm not even a huge Torts supporter, but the disdain for him on here is comical. I mean, the one guy acts as if Torts pushed his Grandma down the steps in her wheel chair. |

Time to prove himself with a couple of legit hockey trades. Frost and Farabee come to mind. It's like, I've seen enough from these two and they could bring back some good young pieces that can grow with this team going forward. |
