I really don't remember anyone saying that it was a come to Jesus moment. I just put the stats out there for all to see. Thought it was interesting. I'm not even a huge Torts supporter, but the disdain for him on here is comical. I mean, the one guy acts as if Torts pushed his Grandma down the steps in her wheel chair. - Phillywhiteout
That portion of the comment wasn't about you. My apologies if it came across that way. There are folks that are spinning it as Torts being a genius for showing tough love to the potential superstar. When I say "folks" I mean some NHL reporters and local Philly sports personalities that actually believe Torts turned Michkov around.

they wanted to trade Sanheim for Krug. Krug vetoed the trade. - login I was confused. I thought you were talking about TK. Lots of folks wanted to trade Sanheim at the time of that trade proposal though cause he really looked like he was nothing special and had the long term contract, but he has since upped his game dramatically. Just hope he doesn't fall apart like he did last season. Congrats to him for making the team, but I'd rather that he just take a break and chill out.

I just didn't know who you were referring to cause I hadn't heard such things. Guess I don't listen to the local Philly sports personalities very often. |

Risto wouldn't have made any of the other rosters. He only made the Finnish team because there are so few to choose from. His is not and never was a "really, really good player". He is a serviceable defenseman who can only play one way or the other. All offense with no defense, or all defense with no offense. There is no in between. - MBFlyerfan
I'm personally excited to see what the Flyers can get for a player that will be coveted by every playoff team and is a legitimate top 4 defenseman on any team.

not good for the flyers they have guys playing in that tourney. all that does is add more games, more minutes, mores mileage, and potential to get hurt in an already long season.
they are going to be logging more minutes for that playoff race down the stretch. |

As a junior Risto was very good. Top 10 draft pick, sure fire #1 d who could do it all. Skate, shoot, pass and was extremely physical. Just goes to show you that not all guys develop the same. I think he’s playing really good right now, but when you consider the projections his whole career has been somewhat underwhelming. Only 7 Finnish d have played more then 5 games this year in the NHL and they didn’t even take the kid from Buffalo. On that blue line Risto is going to play an awful lot of minutes. |

Excited might be a tad high….as always it will depend on the Market, his health and if he’s still playing at a decent level. |

Ristolainen playing a lot of minutes against those teams doesn't bode well for the Finnish team.

Obviously sarcasm. Ristolainen has played a handful of really strong games lately but we've seen that before. As always, a player is best judged overall by a larger sample. He remains overall a mediocre player who is overpaid with term. Moving him for a quality return without retaining salary or taking bad contract back will be difficult at best.

We don’t exactly have Keith Allen as a GM either. I’m not expecting to be wow’ed by anything DB does. |

He came to camp last year a different guy… I never thought in a million years he would change certain parts of his game… but he did. This year he’s been even better. To make that team is quite an accomplishment. Same for TK. - landros 2
agreed, I guess that is why we are told players have a prime in their careers, it all comes together and you see them at their best, whatever that best is, good for the Travis boys. I hope the same for RR, and if he can maintain his play, I do think they can move him at the TDL, for a return. side note, I never imagined TS has 20 pounds on RR |

Sanheim weighs 20 more pounds than Ristolainen? I doubt that is the case.

New narrative by the faithful just dropped. Sanheim is a 1D and the only piece missing is a center.
Let’s get the run going not sure what the coGM is waiting for? Can’t keep straddling the line here time to drop the purse and put on big boy shoes. |

That extra muscle on Sanheim and how he now uses it has really rounded his game. That dedication and what amounted to an FU towards Torts has made him a much better d. To get rewarded like this is on a whole different level. Good for him. Well deserved. |

will his value be higher than now? will this be another case of the flyers missing the boat on selling high? will they wait to see how he does in that tourney? which may or may not help or hurt his perceived value. Risto has shown to be hurt the last few years is also another factor.
this also assumes there is serious interest from other teams. imo I am not buying it. some interest on friendly terms, possibly.
Then the other layer will the flyers want to move him. if all the things' people are saying then how do the flyers replace that at that cost? they may see him as key cog in the wheel. |

Well, all I can say is open your eyes, because Risto is clearly playing the best defense on the team right now, and is generating offense, frequently joining the rush. |

what will you say when the flyers do not trade him? compliment danny for keeping a top 4 dman as he is needed? |
