most resilient flyers team I have seen in ages. people need to except the fact this is a solid team on way up. they will be in the hunt until the end. embrace it.
you people who want to sell, that isn't going to happen while they are in a wild car spot or even within a few points.
Risto looking like a bargain. they will not move him as that means giving up a top 4 dman that they cannot replace. Unless they have another deal to bring someone in. Going to be an exciting 4 months. Can't wait to see how Danny addresses this team. |

I know the popular opinion on here is we don't want a playoff spot, but it is still nice to see the goalies playing well, especially after the Hart fiasco. It will be a tough decision when Ersson returns. - Don Nachbaur
Just like last season, I would rather they make the playoffs than finish in the mushy middle. So for me its playoffs or lottery.

TK sucks and should have NEVER been resigned!! - Phillywhiteout
I just hope he is still playing this good in 6-7 years when the Flyers are hopefully a contender.

I think that goes for must fans.
But I've also learned especially on hockeybuzz is you can't please everyone.

Is making the playoffs really that much of a positive? Good for entertainment purposes but is it good for the future of the team?

Its the end of November and the Flyers have a better record than the Bruins ... Oh yeah! - jd250
The end of NOV last year Flyers had a better record than Edmonton..one team went to the CUP finals the other didnt even make the playoffs?? |

And we will likely get mushy middle again. We have seen this the last few years where Flyers have a stretch of games where they look like they can beat anyone. Everyone gets their hopes up and bam cant beat anyone. Remember last year all the Torts for Jack Adams talk? Time will tell |

Very reminiscent of last year at this point. Lasy year on Dec 1 Flyers had 24 points in 23 games..This year 27 points in 25 games.....Lets see how it goes |

Are the Flyers playing well and competing hard? Absolutely.
But let’s be realistic, this is a team that is weak and woefully thin at center and that will eventually catch up to them.
Sadly, I still see them, if they can stay relatively healthy, as an 85-90 point team and that’s the worst place to be in the NHL. |

If the choice is making the playoffs or not having a good chance at a high pick, Ill take the playoffs. That is just for me. To me finishing out of the playoffs and out of the lottery has always been the worst possible outcome.

There are only two good places for an NHL team to be. Either really good or really bad. It's okay to be a team on the playoff bubble if it is a transitory position as a team is developing with a path to contention. Which is not the Flyers. The path the Flyers are on is not a good one and making the playoffs this season will ultimately be a negative. It will result in this franchise escalating and resuming their errant ways as soon as possible

And there is the Torts effect on full display. They will end up always being a bottom six talent, high effort team. Having to overpay middle six players like top line players to compete. Not having the cap space to truly get a high end player they don't draft, because all their money is tied up in players being paid above their scale.
Lets hope they draft like geniuses.

This team is going to be a tough out in the playoffs too. The coGM is gonna have to do some things before the deadline to bolster their chances. Can’t wait to see what he can cook up on his own. |

I worry about their ability to draft for sure. They need to hit on a few picks this draft. I don’t mind seeing them play well and seeing mm grow into a really special talent. I’d still send vets out the door at tdl Even if they’re in a playoff spot. They really need help at centre as everyone knows. |

do you think getting playoff experience is good? no metrics for playoff experience.
The next few months every game is important. would be good for those players to get a little payoff with playoff games for their hard work and dedication.
is there really much difference in picking say 12th or 16th? |

Hitting on picks is relative. No doubt they can get some good players with the picks they have. They need more than just good players. They need elite talent. It is unlikely that they get that

just not going to happen. didnt happen last year. if they are in a wildcard spot or a few points out they will buy.
they owe the boys. No way they stand pat after that collapse last year. would be very shocked if they do. |

Philly has to become a team players want to play for. The team needs to find something they can offer that other teams cant. Vegas and NY have fantastic cities that draw players. Philadelphia is nowhere near as nice, they obviously arent contenders either. Maybe the idea of playing with TK and Michkov might interest some players but outside that I dont see anything that says "I want to play here!"

So according to Rumours the Flyers are in on several Cs
Zegras
Rossi
Cozens
Pinto
Nelson
Id be most interested in Cozens or Pinto or Rossi. Zegras Id take if he is a buy low option. I have no interest in Nelson.
Unfortunately I have a hard time seeing any of the above available outside of Nelson and Zegras. Adams isnt a good GM so I guess Cozens being available wouldnt be all that surprising I guess... |

Agree, the coach is a hindrance and that doesn't help at all. Really can't wait to see how this shakes out with Torts as he said he will not a lame duck coach like he did in Columbus.
If the Flyers do not offer him an ext, wonder what he does? Flyers should call his bluff 100%.
So how do they become a team elite players want to play for? Win and have good coaching that the elite players want to play for.
I wonder if the NY draw is a bright as the past. That city is just god awful. crime, taxes, illegal aliens, and the like

Also comes down on what the flyers want to part with, and if those other teams want what the flyers have to part with. they touted this 2025 as franchise altering. we shall if that was just lip service.
you need to give to get. not sure the management team understands this concept yet. flyers cap situation is terrible for a rebuilding team who hasn't made the playoffs in what 4 years?
best bet was to move out the vet and long term deals (if you can) replace with short term vets on cheap deals. free up as much cap space as possible while building.

I'm curious what OTT does. Rumors are they are dangling Norris. With his injury history and contract that is going to be a tough sell. Pinto or Greig seem like more viable trade candidates.

I doubt the city itself matters much to players. Money, cache/popularity, friends/teammates, and winning are probably what matters most. These guys live in a bubble. |
