And they're not a bunch of rookies. You'd think veteran players would know better.

It's just gotten worse and worse. There were hints of it during Barry's last season but it increased under Lane. Now it's just out of control. It's just so crazy how widespread it is. We're not just taking Mayfield and Dobson. Pelech, Pukock, Zeeker, McLean, Pageau...it just goes on and on

How is it possible to play one of or if not your best game of the season in Toronto 2 nights ago and then come out at home and play one of your worst tonight. Just baffling!

Bailed after the first period. Could see where it was going. Elf was definitely more entertaining.

I continue to believe there are emotional deficiencies with some of our veterans. Too many guys who have learned to shrug off bad performances. Too many core guys who don't scrap enough. They produce in spurts but don't get dirty enough. It's been a downward trend in that regard since the second ECF.

It's beyond clear that changes are needed. There can be no doubt now. Players are too comfortable. Losing Wally is not enough. This team is soft physically and emotionally.

I wish the site was still down so we didn't have to discuss the dog shit product that the Islanders keep trotting out there every night

T'was the night before Christmas, when all the rink...
Not a creature was stirring, not even the stink...
The equipment was hung in the stalls with care...
In hope that New Players would soon be there...
The rookies were nestled all snug in their bed...
While visions of wins danced through their heads...
And with Patrick in his kerchief, and Lou in his cap...
Had just settled down for a long holiday nap...

When out on the rink there arose such clatter...
Patrick sprang from the bed to see what was the matter...
Tripping over Lou who was half dead on the floor...
Patrick lifted his foot to kicked open the door...
What did his wondering eyes did appear...
But a mini-goalie and eight hockey players all in their gear...
With a little chubby coach not so hairy...
I knew at that moment it must have been Barry...

More rapid than eagles, his courses they came...
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name...
Now Barzy, Now Horzy, Now Nelson and Lee...
On Dober, On Palmer, On Pelech and JGP...
To the blue and back...Now to red and back to the wall...
Skate you Mother Fer's....Skate away... Skate away all...

A wink of his eye and twist of his head...
Patrick knew he had nothing to dread...
He spoke not a word but turned with jerk...
Off to fix the defense and special teams that just did not work...
As he finished his work and completed his chores...
He shut off the lights and closed all the doors...

He jiggled his keys and jumped in his truck...
He exclaimed Merry Christmas and Happy Puck Luck !!!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanuakkah, Happy Kwanzza, whatever else you filthy animals celebrate.

Ha-ha! The fans seemed a tad irked at the game last night. I feel for Islander coaches and the fans.

I was surprised Gidlof didn't get the start. He has better numbers playing in the SHL than the kid that started does in the Swedish junior league. Maybe they're going with a tandem or thought Slovakia was a "weak" enough opponent that they could roll the other guy. Who knows. Not an age thing either, they're only a few months apart.

Maybe he gets the start today. It would be nice to see him play. I do not know much about him.
