You can add the Swedes goalie to the mix as well. Marcus Gidlof was solid for the Swedes even in the 15-player shootout loss.
- Nfdbulldawg

Still confusing to me as to why they went with Thelin as their starter for most of the tournament. Gidlof had better numbers playing in Sweden's top pro league than Thelin did playing in their junior league.

Gidlof only played two games, one of them being that bronze medal game with the marathon shootout and the other was against Kazakhstan who was relegated.

Could be. It sure seems to take a while to see any of these players.

Still full confidence in this team. Trading Nelson and/or Palmieri not a thought at this point with team still in contention.

We've heard this before. The team is not in contention because of their great play. I did not expect Lou to say he is trading both. Just as long as they are traded.

I guess that’s the formula answer. He’s gotta say that. It would be a big mistake if Nelson and Palmieri are still islanders after the deadline. That’s peak value for this exact scenario. Pretty confident they won’t be in a wild card spot as we approach the deadline. Special teams is their Achilles heel

Yeah, I get the posturing and not tipping your hand, but how about a canned answer that's something like, "All options are on the table" (about as generic an answer as there is) to light a fire under people?

No wonder the team is not ready to play most nights when the GM thinks everything is fine.

The flip side of this is if he said what you are saying it very well could create a bidding war to potentially drive up the value. Maybe he actually believes that and wants to resign both. All of the above wouldn’t surprise me.

He basically said that. He’s not trading them if they are in contention. Once they fall mathematically out it’s time to explore your options. Ownership wants PO revenue.
I don’t see either being traded until closer to the deadline. Teams looking to strengthen for the PO’s are cap strapped.

Celebrated my cable change from Optimum to Verizon with an Islander win. Sorokin played a solid game. Nice to see Nelly net one.

Verizon is much better unless you need them to fix something. That’s when they suck.

My opinion of course, but I just don’t see the upside in trying to eek into the 8th seed with this roster. To me, it’s a sign that ownership just wants the revenue from the playoffs and that leads me to believe they’re not serious about winning but more about riding the appreciation of the teams value.
The Vegas game was great but with the special teams being not only bad, but “the worst” bad they have no shot. Teams aren’t usually the worst in both PP and PK. That spells broken.
I don’t see any scenario where the isles hold onto Nelson and Palmieri at the deadline. With Lee’s resurgence, I’d see what his market value is too.
If Lou is the guy, and he doesn’t capitalize on what seems to be a pretty obvious asset management class, then he’s being told what to do by ownership. I don’t believe a serious organization doesn’t roll the above mentioned assets into change. IMHO

I've fried the main cable box two times, both in consecutive August's...which is odd. Their tech support isn't great, last time they insisted I do some one-way video chat with them to show them what I'm seeing on the TV. I had to tell them over and over I've already power cycled it several times and it's definitely busted.

Ultimately though they shipped me out a new one overnight both times and the problem was resolved. Not great that the box seems to die with some regularity, but for a minimal investment of time spent on the phone with someone who barely speaks English they've been good at getting me a new one ASAP.

In about 3.5 years I've had zero internet issues though.

I would rather see my team in the PO's then rebuild especially if I'm the Owner/Owners. If they don't make the PO's there will be changes and should be. If the PO's are made and there is another 1st round exit. Then changes will be made as well. My opinion of course.
I just want to know who taught Lee how to skate and play hockey during the off season. If they can find that guy or gal they should hire that person immediately. I mean he was a 4th liner last year. I wonder if he just started reading the internet and learned from there.
I have faith in Lou. He has drafted well since he's been here and the prospect pool is looking much better starting with Holmstrom and George. I certainly trust him more than the internet.
