Do you see any chance Lee gets moved? - ses111
I want to say yes, but I doubt it. But now would be probably the best time to capitalize on his strong season. |

I didn't even catch that the first time around.
If Lou does do the right thing and trades him, I would love to see him go to Dallas and I would love to see Mavrik Bourque come back, he's going to be a player. I just hope he doesn't go to Toronto because I very badly want to root for him to win a Stanley Cup. - eichiefs9
Sadly I see a fit for Nelson on the leafs. He’s the perfect fit…not flashy, doesn’t roll into practice with a man purse, doesn’t need Bieber in the lockeroom and quietly gets its done

Separating the fan aspect, I don’t see how you wouldn’t try and trade him on the “high”. Purely business decision but you can’t hold onto him solely because he wears the C. I love his new founded resurgence but I look at it as an opportunity to dump and get younger and more importantly faster. |

I also doubt it. Lee would help a playoff team with his style.

It would be smart for the Islanders to trade Lee. I'm not sure how the money works for the acquiring team. I'm thinking the Islanders can retain salary.

He'd honestly be a perfect fit on most teams. He can play 2nd/3rd line center depending on what their depth is like.
He should be in very high demand due to the weak center market this year and the organization would be making a colossal error if they didn't move him. They have an opportunity here to stockpile some good assets and clear cap space, not taking advantage of that would be disastrous |

His $7M cap hit next season will definitely scare some teams off as most playoff teams couldn't absorb that kind of money on their books. I'm not so quick to say the Isles should retain money on that deal through next season either.
But I'd definitely be exploring it as an option for sure. |

It would be disastrous but then again this is the isles. Home of the Chara trade, the Luongo trade, the Dipietro contract, the letting Tavares walk for nothing (honorable mention to Okposo too). The list goes on and on. This team has a history of disastrous moves sadly |

Moving Varlamovs contract off the books allows the isles to eat 2.75 of Lees 5.75 hit. It would make sense if they were serious about building for the future.
Personally I think Lou was bluffing to the media. I think it’s pretty obvious what needs to be done. Anything other than selling is a direct order from ownership

Last night's loss should tell Lou and the owners they are not a serious team and they need re-tool.

If it's a direct order from Ownership and Lou does not agree, he should quit. I think Lou likes a vet team as well and it's not just the owners.

Yeah I mean you could be right. My reasoning was simply that saying you believe in the group lets it appear you aren’t panic selling, which loses leverage. I guess we will see soon enough. |

Varlamov has a full NTC this season though, so unless he requests a trade I don't see that happening. They could, conceivably, trade him in July when his full NTC changes to a partial and then eat that amount of the last year of Lee's deal, but I don't think we'll see that happen at the deadline.
I want to believe that Lou was just posturing with his comments, but I'm honestly unsure how to feel. He's loyal to a fault and if Nelson doesn't want to leave his family I wouldn't be surprised if Lou obliged his request. Livid, but not surprised.

This is the problem. Loyalty to players that have not won one Cup with the Islanders. JT also did not want to be traded. You almost have to hope for the team to go on a long losing streak for the team to do the right thing. |

Sure. I don't know what he's thinking. I'm sure he's keeping his cards close to his vest as usual.

Sadly what’s not close to his vest is the PP being last in the league.
Ironically the one coach Roy brought in has them first in faceoffs. All of Lou’s coaches are last in their respective jobs. |

I never understood the hype with Dubas. To me, he’s the biggest ruse in the league. His pro managing has been disastrous

I just watched him propped up based on his advanced stats approach. He’s been a failure in all his tenure in the nhl. To me, he just doesn’t have “it”. I’d be curious to see how much advanced stats translate to hockey vs a non contact statistic forward sport like baseball? |
