I think at this point it's not the injury preventing him from playing it's just practice reps. Better to get up to speed as much as possible before being counted on to win games, but even rusty he provides a better chance to win than Silovs at this point

Sitting on the bench with the guys gets you into the flow of the game far better than the press box. I'm thinking he feels ready and asked to dress. No reason to pull Lankinen, but I doubt Demko would be on the bench if he wasn't able to be a proper backup.

We are talking about an injury here... after he's been out of action since April. If he's not ready to play 55 min followed by OT and a shoot out, then he shouldnt be backing up yet. All parties involved have said he's not ready for that. So why chance it?

Demko has a bit of a history of coming back early or the team putting him at risk like the time he flew after getting a concussion and it actually prolonged the recovery.

I'll repeat. He's ready. They are getting him back into the flow of things by backing up. After 7 months off, it's way more prudent to do it this way than just letting him start without backing up first.
