Fwiw, Dave Bernstein gave him an A++ grade on this deal. And I don’t think he’s done with the defense. Provorov will be a Ranger, I think he’s very likely. The teams were obviously talking during the Trouba trade

Trade was good in that we have cap space but we did lose an intimidating, physical player on the Blue line. Aside from Cuylle, this team is tissue paper. There is no toughness and we know how this team plays in the playoffs. Going to be much harder to win this year.

Listen, do I think Trouba was the problem? No.
Was Trouba playing like garbage since he came back from his injury last year? Yes.
Are we a less physical team, from the non-physical team we already are? Yes.
Is Mancini playing 10 minutes a night better than having Trouba still here? No, but let’s see what Drury does to fix that, to early to say definitively one way or the other.
