Trying to help the D. - VanHockeyGuy
That's what I was thinking. Overcompensating for a porous defence. 17 shots in one period? Canucks are allowing a lot of shot per game this season. |

Canucks are ahead in almost all stats but shots. TB is giving the puck away like junior players and Canucks are hitting at a almost 4-1 pace. For a change Canucks are dominating the f/o as well.
Lanky stops one of those bad goals and the Canucks are ahead.

This is what I always said. Though I was mad we passed on Tkachuk as obvious BPA, OJ was widely seen as the best dman. His skating and edge work were elite based off scouting reports. Knee and Hip injuries ruined him. he may have never been a true #1, but all projections were showing he bottomed out as a #3 before injuries. - Retinalz
There was no reason to reach. Trade down instead when many other D were available if he went. Sergachev McAvoy Chychrun. |

This narrative that Lankinen was out of position to help the D is comedy. Just watched the replay to see what I was missing... he over extended on one and was simply out of position on another. Panicking because of terrible D coverage would be accurate because on the 1st one he slid way the hell out twice before they scored. |

Agree and it was both teams. Van needed to capitalize on Tampa's sloppiness. 24-10 were the give aways.

Fortunately for the Lightning they have skill to overcome their sloppiness. The canucks, with their injuries and weak-minded bit ches, don't have the skill to compensate.

You said elite. So he's an elite skater for 10 minutes. OK.
He (frank)ed up his back before his first pro game in NA. And he did that training. Requiring surgery to repair a disc. Then in his first season with Utica he (frank)ed up his knee. Another surgery. You know the rest.
Anyway, another poopy draft pick by the canucks. Nothing new. - bloatedmosquito
At 17 they were elite you (frank)ing moron. Showing a picture from when he was, what?, 22? doesn't have any merit in this conversation. Since you are not smart enough to understand what I said I will elaborate.
AT 17, WHEN HE WAS DRAFTED, HIS SKATING WAS CONSIDERED ELITE. AS WAS HIS HOCKEY IQ.
Showing a picture of him at the end of his NHL career after injuries and poor conditioning ruined him as a prospect doesn't prove a point, it shows that you are too stupid to actually carry on a conversation. |

Poor conditioning habits may have contributed to those injuries? - VanHockeyGuy
Possible. Who knows if he could have turned into a top 4 D if his conditioning was up to snuff and didn't have those major injuries. Tkachuk was still the right choice. We were all right to be angry about that pick. |

Someone's a little angry today. Just a word of advice, in a discussion, insults show a lack of intelligence and emotional control.
I'm disagreeing with your assessment that because others thought that he had some elite skills, that gives the team a pass at drafting him at #5. I believe the word “elite” gets thrown around way too much and the result is guys like OJ being drafted at #5 by a team notorious for poor drafting. Elite skating and hockey IQ? WTF? If the guy can't take the rigours of the NHL what's the point?
Maybe that picture of him laying on the ice speaks volumes about his attitude, regardless of injuries. NHL players don't lay in the corner like that after a bag skate. I think one of his teammates called him out for it. That teammate didn't feel that OJ's injuries gave him a pass.
Anyway, another first round bust. Nothing unusual. |

Hey Mak, who’s that at 4? Thought so.

I know right, that 2015 superstar draft pick by the drafting genius Benning.
you and Lordy must be BFF butt buddies with the way you both love Benning and marginally talented busts that get tossed aside. |
