Missing the point and the context of the Flyers history and what they do. They rush and push things. They lack patience and sound judgement. Tortorella is a BS artist. There is no doubt that as soon as the Flyers get the means to, they will jump in head first into free agency. They will look to escalate and make trades. Continuing to follow a mindset and philosophy that has failed for 14 years and counting. There are many way to build a team but there is clearly one way and one approach that has the best odds of being successful. - MJL
I know that is the Flyers history, but why does that automatically mean that Hilferty, Jones and Briere will do the same thing now? They were not part of that Flyers history you are referencing. I think its clear that right now the Flyers are trying to draft players and develop them. But there will be a point in the not so distant future I hope were the Flyers will be a team ready to sign some free agents and also make some good hockey trades from a position of strength in terms of organizational depth. You can't build a championship team strictly through the draft. At some point the team needs to be augmented with good trades and free agent signings. I want the team to spend on some free agents when the time is right. |

love when the coach of a team is running the show. no top free agents are coming here and having torts as coach is a detriment to that.
Would you extend torts for 2 more years? - login
I would with one caveat, Rocky Thompson needs to be replaced. I think Torts is a good coach, and I think Shaw and Dillabaugh are two of the best positional coaches in the league. |

Hilf is as clueless as the guy before him in terms of running/operating an NHL team.
Jones has been ingrained with Flyer's culture for years.
Briere was part of the last regime.
Very little if anything has changed. |

Briere and Jones both said the team won't be signing any UFA's in the next two years before the season started? - MJL
Correct, and Torts reiterated that last week in one of this pressers. Torts said no free agents are coming and this is the time for the organization to evaluate what they have interanally. |

Yet, no significant free agents have been signed. No significant prospects have been prematurely jettisoned for aging veterans, and the Flyers are stock piling draft picks and revamped their entire player development organization. But you're right, nothing has changed. |

Still evaluating what they have? They don’t know by now? They are more dysfunctional than I thought. |

Players take time to develop. Not every player can step in and be a point a game player like Michkov. You can't give up on players too quickly, unless of course their name is Frost or Farabee. |

no significant FA want to come here. Limited cap space.
There hasn't been any need to trade for aging vet as the team as stunk. That is your defense why no prospects has been traded? when was the last time the flyers made a somewhat high-end prospect for prospect hockey trade? I don't know either.
stockpiling draft picks. good lord you eat it up. 2 of those picks were acquired by the prior regime.
what have the revamped? I still see many of the same scouts at the pro and nhl level. many of the same faces throughout the organization in other roles.
As I said very little as changed. |

They did acquire Svoboda and Samuelson, and Richardson, and Markov and McGillis. These were all stiffs. McGillis was the only one to get more than 5 goals in a season. The rest didn’t even break 5. When Chris Therien is the 2nd best defenseman of the roster I don’t consider that respecting the position. - psuhockey
Svoboda was not a stiff. What are you talking about. He was very strong defensively and a solid puck mover. He was a very underrated player. More than anything, injuries derailed them, especially to Desjardin. Kevin Haller was also a solid defenseman on that 97 team. Goals are the only measure to an NHL defenseman? Paul Coffey was also on that 97 team and had 26 points in 37 games.

There is no question that they're going to have the same approach. Keith Jones has said they're just waiting for the cap to clear up. They will put themselves right back in cap peril all to be a playoff team.

It's the equivalent to having no money in your pocket and saying " see I'm not spending any money." They aren't selling off assets for money. How have they revamped their entire player development organization. Some of the same scouts and Brent Flahr as still here from the Fletcher days.

I read this and I believe Cozens is up for sale. Probably going to cost more then the Reinhart trade. Reinhart had 4 20 goal seasons before being traded to FLA. As of now, Cozens has 1 30 goal season. High risk/high reward type trade. |

Anyone seeing any drones? I saw them Sunday night over Hammonton, and then over my house last night.
It was a weird Close Encounters of the Third Kind like vibe. I saw three hovering in formation then they all spread out in different directions. |

They know it's there. The Air National Guard should be deployed or the closest air defense element.
