I thought I remembered 80s hockey clearly, but the mental picture I have doesn’t accurately replicate the look. When I see the old tapes now, I forget how amateurish the NHL looked in the early 80s.
Anyway, came across this gem. 11 minutes long but it’s worth a quick skip though to check out an old cbc made for tv kills competition.
Not sure if y'all heard or not, but the Bruins took another one on the chin last night losing 8-1. Be sure to go over to their thread and say hello. Kinda like the old days when we used to battle in the Leafs thread. - Pacificgem
Late to the game but thanks for the charity post NYN! Few things to get off my chest after last couple games:
Quinn Hughes is trying to do everything, and is going to burn out with this support cast ... and probably will do so at the worst time during playoffs. Last game especially, watching him cover so much ground trying to create space on his own, it's incredible how much Hronek helps him - any update on Hronek injury btw? Watching him do everything to avoid passing to Myers in offensive zone is actually pretty funny. Finally he does and Myers lumbers two steps and pounds one into the shin pads of the first defender. My detest for Myers is well documented and I have to admit he has stepped up a bit, but he has zero offensive instinct and finds himself in position offensively because of who he plays with and is completely out of his element. Soucy is black hole for offense too ... a giveaway dump into the corner after the forwards have worked the cycle ... I'd be pissed if I was a forward. Soucy has been a shell of what he was that first year in Seattle, maybe all the injuries caught up.
Petey, while scoring points, still doesn't look right to me. He's getting some good bounces, making some good passes but also unforced giveaways ... he almost looks a bit scared which he never has before. Not sure what is up with him, but nowhere near the player he has been in the past despite the points (full disclosure I did pick him up in fantasy on the waiver wire for the points).
Boeser is only worth what he'll get in new contract (8 million+) if he plays with Miller. He is not nearly the same player without mills. It's probably worth it to sign him just for the combo and the discount on Miller makes it worth the 16 mill for a 1st/2nd line scoring combo ... and with the cap going up.
