That game was unacceptable, both for the players and the coaching staff.
The team was not prepared for the Penguins. Little effort was made to influence matchups, and the players on the ice were too often over-committing.

That, and Sam is clearly still not 100%. You can see it in his movement.

I don't mind losing, I don't love it, but it does help that 1st pick. I do hate that it appears that player development is going out the window. Torts is trying to make scorers into checking wingers. To the point that they are over-committing on defense (and not well) and ignoring offense.

Torts coaches like it is a win now scenario IMO.

I have seen enough of Drysdale. Kid has absolutely zero hockey IQ. I really don’t think he is going to develop much and is what is. A plus skater that can’t defend and zero hockey sense.

I was saying that last May...pretty skater and not much more. I called him a 3rd pairing dman at best and got blasted for it by JD and a few others.

Agree with this. I used to listen to his podcasts all the time, but after Gauthier got traded, he went off homer-like big time, and I just can't take him seriously at all. If he pops up on a Flyers game like he did in the preseason, I mute the tv, so I don't have to listen to him.

He is everything I hate about the Leafs and Canucks fans all rolled up into one.

last 6 games -8 and 1 assist. your bar for playing well is low.

he has done nothing well. he is just there it seems. if he turns out better than karl dyhuis flyers will be lucky.

Andre is down there because he is a second round pick, is waiver exempt, and needs playing time. Drysdale is a former 1st round pick (#6 overall), not waiver exempt, and was the centerpiece of that trade. Like it or not Drysdale will be given every opportunity to develop at the NHL level.

As he should. Hes just 22 years old. Played on a bad Anaheim team.Hes going to take time. Hes going to suck at times. Theres no magic switch to make him into a good nhl D. To put things in perspective Drysdale is the same age as Andrae and Drysdale did not get to develop in the ahl like Andrae did

The only reason Andrae was called up was due to injuries. Or else he still most likely wouldn't have seen any NHL action at this point. Andrae should've made the team out of camp. Again a victim of the Flyers incessant need to have safety blanket veterans and Tortorella's failure to accurately assess a young player. Andrae made a significant impact when called up and improved the team. If he was kept out due to taking that big hit and subsequently sent down because they feel he hasn't fully recovered yet. Whether physically or mentally, then I'm fine with it. If it's because Tortorella thinks he hasn't played well, then I'm not. Either way Tortorella is full of crap because he is either misguided or untruthful.

Honest question. Do you actually watch the games? If the answer is yes, how could you possibly have this position?? Andrae has played awful ever since he took that hit and missed a few games. He has looked completely overwhelmed. It is not the right thing for any player to be thrown out there and be overwhelmed shift after shift. Andrae needs to regroup in the AHL, regain some confidence, maybe even regain some health, and then he will be back with the big club. As your hero Hextall stated many times, no player ever got worse playing in the AHL.

Ice time is earned, not given. Michkov has Sucked the past 6 or so games and IMO has not earned his ice time. He is a 20 year old kid that is struggling right now. He is not fighting for pucks like he was earlier in the season and he is horrible with defensive zone coverage. I think perhaps he has already taken too many hits and its possible the Flyers are trying to protect him. Either way, he is not playing well right now and is another young player that needs to regroup and regain his confidence.

I do watch the game and I have a superior ability to assess a player than you do. Andrae has not been awful at all. Honest question, did you not read my post? Specifically the part where I said that if he was sent down due to they think he hasn't fully recovered from the hit, physically or mentally, then I'm okay with it? Did you somehow miss that? Your hero Tortorella is full of crap either way.

Not on a rebuilding team. A coach on a rebuilding teams job is to try and win but not at the expense of developing players and overplaying and favoring veterans. He is a bad coach

That is archaic, neanderthal thinking and the methods of a coach who lacks the tools and ability to actually coach a player through struggles. A player does not regroup and does not gain confidence by playing less. Tortorella's methods sap players of confidence

If that is all your post said I wouldn't have responded. Torts is not the sole decision maker here. Briere and his staff have a say also. Anyone watching the games could clearly see Andrae was struggling and struggling badly. Torts even said that he will miss the offensive part of his game but right now this is the best thing for the player. So what is wrong with this? Why does everything with you have to end up with Torts is full of crap? You talk out of both sides of your mouth. In one post you want the Flyers to do this the "right way"; i.e. to draft and develop their players properly and not rush them. And then out of the other side of your mouth you are bashing the organization for being patient with their players and trying to develop them the right way. Can't make it up!

Andrae has been more good than bad. You let him work through it at the NHL level. He will be down there in the AHL a long time unless an injury or trade. Otherwise, no need to send him down.

How will he regain health in the AHL as opposed to the NHL?

Very true, because Foerster, Tippet, TK and Brink are clearly playing like their confidence has been zapped by Torts. Michkov is 20 years old! He has never played this type of schedule and against the top talent in the world. And I am sure he has not been rocked like he has a few times already this year. Anaheim healthy scratched Leo Carlsson 27 times last year to help him ease into the NHL. We all saw the reaction when Michkov sat two games. So if Torts and his staff are limiting Michkov's minutes to help him develop, again, what is wrong with this? When other organizations do it you praise them. When the Flyers do it you bash them.
