As far as Kakko, I think Drury held out as long as he could before trading him and in the meantime the offers were just never very good. Because why? Well because Kakko sucks lol he’s a jag. He’ll top out as a middle six guy which is ok, but he has plenty of forwards with the potential in Hartford to be that, or even better. And his contract status isn’t worth keeping him when you can have a guy who could do the same thing on an ELC. Personally I think Berard sealed Kakkos fate, as he looks like he can hang in the NHL. He’s a pest who can chip in offensively. Borgen is the kind of dman they need and I bet they keep him and he won’t be overly expensive. Give him some time and he’ll get better and or more effective. I actually like the trade (minority I know) replenishing the cupboard of picks
Rangers need to call up Othmann asap, and maybe even Sykora and start the transition with more youth. Like the devils did the last couple years. I’d rather watch them lose with the kids then these vets who don’t even care anymore |

I think Drury will use all of the cap space by taking on salary as a 3rd party team, at the TDL. This season is heading to a miss playoffs and that’s how he’ll use the cap space he got by trading Trouba. Rather then go for any players/rentals. That seems like a good plan to salvage what he can from a lost season. By doing that he’ll gain some picks to maneuver around with at the draft and add some players to the pipeline. To me it’s looking like a retool year which is probably why he doesn’t give two (frank)s about these players feels, and quite frankly I agree. I think he’s done and seen enough with this older core. It may be ruthless but what else should he do? The inmates can’t run this asylum anymore
I don’t think there much he could do to make many people happy, but I think we just need to be patient for now. Next summer there will be a massive turnover in players imo - Slimtj100
What do we get for retaining money? 3rd and 4th round picks? Come on man, Drury might be the worst GM in the NHL right now.
He took a team that was in the ECF and turned it into the laughing stock of the league. |

He can’t win with you
You destroy him for trading picks, and destroy him for getting picks back
You overvalue every player he trades like they’re are the next all star.
Buchnevich wouldn’t change any of the results, because they probably don’t have Trocheck. Imagine having one center on this team right now?
Kravtsov isn’t even in the NHL anymore
Kakko won’t be in the NHL next season
But keep on keeping on and not let these trades go
Gorton and his scouts is who (frank)ed them drafting these putzes, he isn’t getting enough criticism
And how anyone isn’t completely tired of this core like he is, is mindboggling. The writing is on the wall and he just wrote on that poop with the brightest highliter imaginable |

I am actually excited for the summer. I want to see what Drury can do with a lot of cap space. If he keeps selling he could finally get a chance to build his team and not just trying to add onto the gorton core group |

That’s the thing not many people are seeing, Drurys vision is still not fulfilled. And thus why he won’t get fired imo
I think he knows that they need to do to win but the team and players he inherited aren’t cutting it
They probably need to name a captain but idk who that would be. I guess Trocheck would be the best option since I highly doubt he’s anywhere near the cross hairs of Drury. He at least shows a pulse in these games |

Id put money on Kakko having a nice long career. He may not be fast, but hes no dummy, hes good defensively, hes a good possession player and hes good for around 40 points. Teams pay quite a bit for reliability like that. Fans here can never get over the fact that he was a 2nd overall pick and thats the problem. If he was a late 1st rounder/2nd round pick, no one would say a thing, but… expectations. |

Next years lineup will look different in a very simple way, with more youth
You figure 100% on the roster next season:
Forwards-
Laf
Chytil (maybe slightly less then 100%)
Cuylle
Trocheck
Berard
Perrault
Othmann
Edstrom
Carrick
Thats 9 right there, and it’s not terrible and has a lot of cap room.
Potential regulars, or 13th Fs-
Rempe
Sykora
Roobroeck
Very much up in the air-
Panarin (probably still here)
Zib
Kreider
————
Defense-
Schneider
Jones
Fox (reluctantly. I think exploring a trade isn’t a terrible idea)
Mancini
Potential D-
Borgen
Vaakanainen
Very much up in the air-
Lindgren
Miller
Defense needs big time work. That is by far the weakest link on this team |

I just think in Drurys eyes he was easily replaceable.
But I can’t see anyone giving him 4 million bucks when cap space is at a premium for teams. Maybe a real bad team would do that. I’m so over Kakko, not many guys ever frustrated me more
Suppose Seattle non tendered him, he would be UFA right? That’s when he’ll get a prove it deal somewhere. But I think Finland is where he should be |

You are right that its highly unlikely he gets a qualifying offer however hes def worth 2.5m. With 1yr left on his deal Seattle could easily eat a chunk of his contract and send him to a team needing a depth forward and get back way more for him then what it cost them. |

He makes $1m more than zib for the same term and is a RD that also sucks. His buyout is slightly better but that’s it. |

He was good for 5 minutes which added to the frustration. The inconsistency got the best of him
1 goal 2 assists -3 his last 13 games before he went to Seattle |

Drurys vision??? You are giving him too much credit. This team has made the ECF twice in the last three years, even though they had help, and has been a pretender for a few years now. He didnt read the room and destroyed the chemistry inside there. Yes its a business but the players are human so its a fine line you must balance. Drurys underhanded antics lost the room. Its so stupid how he went about the Goodrow, Trouba and CK20 circus that it blew up in his face.
It doesnt matter who he trades for now, it looks like this team is playing scared uninspired hockey. |

The problem is the guys who are under performing cant be moved!
The fact that nobody can play with Mika and CK20 is the problem, I think Smith is an upgrade over Wheeler and has been playing ok. If Mika can just get engage and start producing this team will be solid but that just isnt the case.
Couple in the fact that Drury just destroy the team chemistry, I think it will all fall apart.
I think if his line produced, we beat the Panthers and most likely the Oilers for the Cup!!
What do I know, Ive just been calling him out for years now. |

KK = Jesper Fast 2.0
Problem is, we all wanted something MUCH greater when he was drafted 2nd overall. |
