I would do that deal. - VanHockeyGuy
I want to build from the goal out.
Demko and Lanky cannot be a long term thing as both want to start. So pick one and trade the other, we need the assets in other positions. Based on health alone, I would go Lank. This management group seems to be able to pickup great backup / 1B / starting goalies, so use that skill to get assets where needed.
1) If you could pry a top prospect Dman like Edvinsson out of Detroit for Demko +? Done.
2) Miller, love the guy, but the cancer is showing. Once again that NYR deal and getting a big 24 year old Dman+. Done.
3) Then the Petey....Buffalo if you get could get Powers? It's the modern day Shanny for Pronger deal. Make a deal and Cozens as well for + something and go.
Hughes Powers
KA Miller Hronek
Edvinsson Soucy
The C is weekish, in Cozens, Chytil, Suter.
But that D for years would be insane. And you could finally for once in 50+ years of this team, have Defence as a position of strength on this team to build and trade from going forward.

Remember how excited everyone was to have Messier and Keenan here at that time? Keenan as the worst GM in Canucks history now with Messier a joke as a player here lol - LordHumungous
Messier was a used up commodity when he got here. Overhyped 100%. Iron Mike made the Bert deal so all forgiven. |

No it was even less of an indiscretion, he had the nerve to post 3 laughing emojis when Lea posted a Canucks blog.
Marwood also received 3 months for posting “who the (frank) are you”.
There was never another Lea Whittaker blog ever again. A week later Bill Meltzer and Mike Augello both left. CaptEO left before them, flagging posts hasn’t worked in 2 years. |

most mock trades i've seen with Miller to NYR had Zibs coming back for cap purposes. Also, do we really want o completely gut our C strength? Miller plays better without Petey around and vice versa. I feel like if we traded one, we would be going with the other as our #1 c, fully commited. |

When I check the bloggers link at top of page, they still have that Michael guy as Canucks blogger, a little disrespectful to NYN, imo |

If he ever blog's again it will be a much worse reply than ASL or Marwood ever did. Book it. |

You are basing Miller playing better with Petey not around on 1 game? Seemed the same to me as the previous games with Petey in the line up.

I’d take Millers flaws over Petey. $11.6m is a serious chunk of cap to tie up. Miller although he can be a handful plays with a higher level of intensity & shows a bigger burning desire to win when the going gets harder. You don’t find that everywhere. Power F’s are best to keep. |

The problem with keeping Miller and trading Petey is who is Miller's next problem going to be with? He already carries the reputation of being a locker room issue. Is it Hughes he has a problem with next? Or one of the new young players coming in down the road like Lekkerimaki? Plus we don't even know if this burning desire to win you speak of is smoke and mirrors... so much is based on last season and not the rest of Miller's career... it just sounds like fan boy worship when he gets built up like that.
If they trade Petey, keeping Miller just kicks the issues down the road...

Dreger said he's talked to GMs that have talked to the Canucks:
Feedback he's getting is those other teams are willing to talk about the Dman the Canucks want but it's not a match because the players and pieces Canucks are offering aren't good enough.

So supposed cancer guy with personal issues or confirmed uncommitted emo guy?
I say no to both. Take your licks, make the best deals possible and preserve the Hughes relationship. |

If you can get a good return for both, do it. Fix the problem and move on. Again.
