Sure. Miller slugging it back on the back check & Petey over paid have no place.
Get D & lock it down |

The problem with keeping Miller and trading Petey is who is Miller's next problem going to be with? He already carries the reputation of being a locker room issue. Is it Hughes he has a problem with next? Or one of the new young players coming in down the road like Lekkerimaki? Plus we don't even know if this burning desire to win you speak of is smoke and mirrors... so much is based on last season and not the rest of Miller's career... it just sounds like fan boy worship when he gets built up like that.
If they trade Petey, keeping Miller just kicks the issues down the road... - boonerbuck
Petey is 26 and Miller is 32. Pretty much a no-brainer there. Both have issues but maybe Petey playing well while Miller was out tells us something? Tough call either way but you touched on some good stuff here. Miller appeared to be an issue with Horvat too from what I was told. We might get two good years out of Miller if Petey is gone but yeah the Miller issues will just continue regardless. Time to move on IMO. |

It's going to be tough getting out of this mess that Benning created. - Danny Bomber
Over three years removed and it's still Benning's fault the team is sputtering.

Miller only gets traded if he agrees to waive. Petey has no protection until July 1st. It wouldnt surprise me if Miller is the one that survives this in the end.

not the premise of what I was pointing out, both players are responsible for their own actions, Alvin has a decision that could include many different courses of action, my starting point would be to have a closed door meeting with both players and Tocchet. Frank, feeling hurting one sided conversation that ends with an altimatum that if they can’t work together that changes will be coming. |

Watching the winter classic.
The ice always looks so small in these outdoor games.
Would love to catch one, one day.
Anyways.
Happy '25 dudes.
Try not to sweat the small stuff. - dbot
Only thing positive about these winter classics at this point are the jerseys!!
Merry new year champ!!

From what this scenario tells us Miller would probably waive but who actually knows. But, the return for Petey would be greater so......
Almost at the point where move on from both those contracts had such high hopes for these two here after signing those deals. |

The issue could be forced.
I think LH is right that Miller would welcome it. I already predicted that by Jan 15th, we hear Miller has requested it.

Doesn't matter dude. Messier was an absolute beast. 6 cups. Gino was tough but not Messier tough man. |

Please. The Canucks are just not good enough to be in one. When Seattle got their winter classic game, one would think that Canucks would be a no brainer to participate. But why would the NHL want a team like the Canucks instead of a team like Vegas?
Even during that Heritage game at BC Place, there was drama in Canuckland when Lou was sat. Eddie Lack? WTF?

It took Benning 8 years to fu ck Vancouver up the ass, it might take 8 years to unravel Benning's dumpster fire.
Patience, little buddy. |

At least we have a management group who are not afraid to correct their mistakes and/or see that change is needed and act on it.
I had such high hopes for this season after the success of last season. Oh well, life as a Canuck fan. - bloatedmosquito

What a strange thing for the general manager to say and even more so when people accuse PA of being a JR proxy in the GM seat.

Which is also another danger TBH. If you know Rutherford's history at all in PIT his later years he did sacrifice alot in PIT to 'get his man' lol. Once Rutherford sets his sights on something there is no stopping him. I just hope it doesn't costs the Canucks longer term. |

Allow it to continue or do something about it. That's where it is right now. Let's see how much more patience they have, one, two months? Or just ride it out and hope for the best?

Move on from both.
I agree 100% on the age comparison, so get out from Miller's deal now and get assets.
But the GM just called out Petey in public. Clearly not the first warning to him, from the GM, i'm sure. Petey doesn't seem to be the type to put in the work and put down the joystick. I don't think he will rise to the occasion, and even if he did, he is still not the type of player to build a team around. I have maintained this from day 1.
