I watched in person at least a dozen BC games with Gauthier playing. He was good, but he was not at the level of Smith or Leonard. For him to make the statements he has made shows arrogance and entitlement. There are plenty of players his age and even younger that show far more maturity and professionalism that Gauthier. I stand by my statements about him.
- jd250

You watched Jay O'Brien many times also and you claimed and said he had the goods. Your track record of player evaluation is in the dumpster. Again, everyone else watching had him as a finalist for the Hobey Baker award and one of the top 3 players in NCAA hockey. Putting him as the best player on BC. You've overreacted numerous times on his statements and they have zero bearing on his potential as a player. Again, Flyers players get time to develop. Players you don't like on other teams that you don't like, don't. That is evidence of your player evaluation skills.

No I won't. If the Flyers go into this next draft picking 14th, 25th and 29th I will drill them to high heaven. They need a top 10, preferably a top 5 pick to move this rebuild forward.
- jd250

More contradictions. You've made numerous posts including recently how the Flyers are set up and are properly rebuilding. Referencing the future picks they have in the upcoming drafts.

Yes, I agree neither side is blameless. But did the Flyers do something so egregious that Gauthier was justified to demand out? That is where my beef is.

His poise with the puck for one.
- jd250

Seems a bit feisty too, which I like. Really hoping he turns out to be solid. I really wanted Gabe at that spot, nothing against Bonk, just thought the Flyers needed that more at the time.

they caved into boths demands.

Crazy they caved to these two….but probably was a result of the Gauthier snub….as a new GM you look pretty incompetent if you can’t get these situation rectified….after the Guathier debacle I think it’s safe to say DB went a little over board to avoid the appearance not being up for the job.

Yes, it is true. You just continue to be ignorant of the reported facts by highly reputable sources.

Not guaranteeing Gauthier a position on the team last season, was never reported. Never reported that Gauthier was asking that nor is it how the Flyers screwed up. Again, showing you have a lack of grasp on the reported facts. I'll make another futile attempt to explain what actually happened to you. At the end of Gauthier's NCAA season in 2023. He or his agent approached the Flyers and wanted to sign for the tail end of the NHL season and burn off the first year of his ELC. The Flyers said no. When the Flyers went back to Gauthier later in the year, looking to sign him for the 23/24 NHL season. Gauthier and or his agent informed the Flyers that he no longer wanted to play for them. All the Flyers had to do was what every other team in the league has done for the same situation with a high ranked NCAA player. Sign him burn off the year and Gauthier would be a Flyer today.

Other players going back to College is irrelevant. That was not Gauthier's choice at the end of his 22/23 season. Again, he did not ask for a guaranteed future roster spot. You're contradicting yourself. Stating that it's his right to do what he did and then you say there is no defending how Gauthier acted. If it's his right, than that is a defense. You aren't making sense. Players all the time "take their ball and go home" when it is in their rights to do so.

What Kolosiv did is irrelevant to the Gauthier situation and not the same situation.

Your statement that Gauthier made absolutely no attempt to be on this team is factually incorrect. We know for a fact that the Gauthier camp was completely willing and ready to sign with the Flyers after his NCAA season ended in 23. You're 100% incorrect.

It was a complete screw up by an incompetent management group

Nothing has been reported by anyone. Like usual you make up your sources and hide behind your patent "I dont have to do research for you"

Has Gauthier addressed why he wanted out? NO!
Has the Briere, Jones or even Fletcher mentioned the reasons? NO!

Since no one involved has said anything, any information regarding it is pure speculation. Nothing has been confirmed.

Apparently many teams have been in talks with PHI regarding the "unmoveable" Ristolainen according to Pierre Lebrun. Flyers are reported to be willing to move him as well for a prospect, young player or combo of prospect + pick

The flyers ask for a package of Risto and Laughton is a Draisaitl level player in return .

It’s frustrating that they continue to do this, you can’t guarantee that Risto will keep up his solid level of play moving forward, it’s time to cash in

The Flyers over value their players. To the extreme (seeing what the GM said about Laughton). Their pro scouts leave a lot to be desired.

What parts?

Pierre Lebrun: "Sources say the Flyers have indeed received calls this season asking if they would be willing to move Ristolainen. The answer from the Flyers is yes — if there’s a certain price met. They would want a good prospect or young player in return or a combination of a prospect and a pick."

Everything wrth mentioning was mentioned

You've failed to address the points made. Instead just not posting about the actual subject but rather insinuating that the onus is on me to do the research and provide the information. When you did no such thing yourself. You're incorrect that no one involved has said anything. Both the Flyers and the Gauthier camp has gone on record concerning the situation. Numerous credible and reliable sources such as LeBrun and Friedman have gone on the record. The timeline and many of the details of the negotiation are public record. You can stick your head in the sand and pretend it doesn't exist all you want. You've failed to back up your claim in your original post of what I know to be true.

Interesting. Have either the Flyers camp or any other teams commented on this? If not then according to your standard in the Gautheir conversation, that is pure speculation. How do you think that Lebrun knows that? Any guesses?

Yes you did, badly because the point made was not regarding whether potential ratings are accurate or turn out to be accurate. But that jd250 routinely uses a double standard when discussing Flyers player prospects or young players versus non Flyers prospects or young players. That was the point made.

Clearly no one knows for sure what happened. And clearly the Flyers were willing to make it right.

How can you be this blind to the situation. Your article even backs up what some of us are saying about the contract...I don't get how you can just follow like this without scrutinizing things.

If I remember correctly, a number of players made a similar comment that if he doesn't want to play here line. A player refusing to play for a team that drafted him is generally not something that goes over well with players.
