Garfield, a well respected poster, just said he reminds him of Danault.
how much did Danault get on the market? and the cap is going up.
I agree with you, from here, 3-3.5 looks reasonable, but if he thinks he can get 5 on July 1st.... like I said we don't know what's going on in these contract discussions.

Well he said there were no contract discussions

This cat is on to something

Evans is reliable defensively, he's good at face-offs ... and he has some offensive potential as well.

If people think they can find a better 3rd line center then I'm all ears.

meh, Danault is much more skilled offensively, I don't see this as a true comparable.
- Pat1993

I get where he is coming from. Evans is having a career year and its probably the only chance he will get in his career to cash in. He's 28 or something like that? Pretty much now or never for him to get a big contract here or elsewhere.

sure, and if he gets 4M for 3 or 4 years, that's a pretty considerable pay raise and makes sense for everyone involved. I doubt he'll be stubborn on 5M, we'll see.

I think he is one of the Vets we keep around.

Still gonna cling to a Heineman / Evans / Demidov 3rd line next year, at least for the early part of the season.

Oh my ... I'm awful at that game (contract values).

Definitively not as much as Danault (2nd line center) ... 3.5 - 4 millions?

So useful on the PK, in the prime of his career, homegrown player.

Keep the man!

I think you're strongly underestimating Demidov, he does not belong on a 3rd line, even to start the year imho.

I know he's having a great season and I want to keep him around.

But to me, 3M is the max he should receive.

Before this season, he had a career high 29 points. He's 28 years old.

I feel like 3M is more than fair, if he wants more, it might be too much.

so you'd be ready to trade him at the tdl if his agent is asking for more than 3M per?

LOVE Dobes's size in net. Huge upgrade over anything Primeau has given us this season.

I know, that bar was quite low but still...

It would be a decision base on "how much more does he want?" and "what can I get for him on the market" to make that call.

I'm not trading him away if he wants 3.2 and I'm only getting a 2nd rounder for him.

he looks calm too, and well-positioned, I hope he gets the shutout for his 1st NHL game, would be pretty sweet.

His style reminds me of Tomas Vokoun.

Without the first game blowout obviously.
