to be honest you're here all the time but unless I'm mistaken you barely watch any hockey these days, so I wouldn't blame you if you didn't read it, I doubt that what's going on in habs land interests you all that much lol.

- Pat1993

i'll latch back on to hockey after football season ends. but i do read most of scabeh's blogs. he started out a common person just like us!

Safe bet Savard is gone at the deadline? Not sure they will get a good return for him

But that would open up a spot for Struble.

- deadpoulet

there's a good chance Savard stays imho, unless they get a good return (who gives a poop about a 3rd round pick, they have plenty already lol) or unless he's requested to be traded...

also a possibility yes, with Beck and Kapanen almost ready to play on the 4th

What they need is to work on that 2nd line. Demigod will help, but who knows if Laine will be here for more than another season.

If they can draft a good C early this year, that would help. Even if French is telling us Demigod is a centre.

yep, still some ?? regarding Laine and Dach.
Laine looks like he may want to stay long term. that would be nice.
Dach should bounce back next season imo. if not they'll need to shop for another top6 talent, unless Hage surprises us and become that good. it could be via the UFA market or a trade, not too worried about that one, Hughes will move once the team is ready. no hurry.

Hard to say how good Hage will be in the NHL. Im sure they will be patient with Dach but patience will reach its limits at some point. Laine is not producing 5 on 5 with Newhook and Dach, all his goals have been on the pp. Not so good for sucess in the long term.

But mtl should get another top pick this year anyway, we just dont know where yet. + another first round pick (From Florida or Calgary?).

I don't think Savard wants to leave. He really enjoys playing here.

If all you can get for him is a 3rd or less AND you can convince him to stay with a significant paycut, I think he sticks around.

Otherwise, he's gone, Carrier will give us that possibility.

yeah, I also interpreted that move as an indication they were getting ready for Savard potentially leaving

We wont see that guy before 2026, but I like I said, it would open up a spot for Struble. Otherwise he will be eating hot dogs in the stand for the rest of the season.

in a reduced role with more limited minutes Savard wouldn't really be taking anything away from a guy like Reinbacher

Struble is the next one to go imo. unless he can jump over wifi. short term yes trading Savard would allow him to play, but longer term he'll need to be better than Guhle, wifi, Hutson, Reinbacher, Carrier, Matheson....
I like Struble a lot but as of now wifi is ahead of him, and playing.

the question at camp next season will be
do we send Reinbacher to Laval? or do we keep him with the big club and play him on the 3rd pair?
that's Savard's spot.

I don't know where his development will be at once he comes back from injury, he'll surely spend some time in Laval but it shouldn't take him a whole lot of time before he's able to take on important minutes at the NHL level, so he won't require a transition on a bottom pairing, kinda like Hutson.
