flyers should hire you as making the determination after a player playing 35 games is not a building block is super is great scouting. flyers need people like you.

Well i do think he will be a good player

I always find players who need guarantees 💯 to make a roster is not very confident in the game they play .
To me it's a sign of weakness

The other worrying factor for me is, apparently he up and down the line because ppl don't like playing with him,( I don't know if he actually is or not but heard it) If it's true that's worrisome

such a bland boring game between 2 bad teams. something seems wrong with the ducks, much like buffalo.

you have a coach who is alienating the franchise golden goose. too lazy to look wonder how many minutes a night Bedard and Celebrini play.

Love seeing all the commercials about culture this culture that. Guess when you can't sell the talent you have to sell something.

I do not see much progress with the on-ice product. Who has taken a step forward and playing above grade?

Wallowing in mediocrity at best. with really no end in sight.

Those first two periods were tough to watch….I’m glad I’m not the only one that thought that. Games in late December through February always seem this way to me. I also think the guys playing with Michkov are not gelling very good with him.
As far as who’s progressing….the whole line of Brink-Cates-Foerster is playing really well. I have really liked Brinks game for a while now. Cates is a kid that I still think can be that 3rd line do it all center. I know some prefer him on wing, but I think he has shown to be very effective in the middle this year.

they are playing well, nothing above grade though. Cates is a solid nhl player. See how the year plays out to see if he can be a 3rd line center. Needs to be a 40 range point guy to be that.

Didn't see any of the game yesterday and from the sounds of things I didn't miss much. I did enjoy seeing the highlight of Cutter getting booooooood on his home ice by Flyers fans though!!

Yep, you teach, and send him back out. Teach, and send him back out. As many times as it takes.

Celebrini is a more complete player than Michkov. At this point I'd say that the Calder is his to lose. He is very impressive to me and he has that "hate to lose" attitude too. Kid is gonna be a good one.

Gauthier was a complete non factor in this game. The stats you are quoting had more to do with his line mates and situations versus something special Gauthier did. Anyone watching the game could see he was pretty much invisible out there. You spewed the same crap about Frost, and look where we are with him. Building blocks do not come from phony stats like expected goals, they come from seeing him actually winning battles, getting to the dirty areas of the ice and creating scoring chances. Two shots on goal in the game is not a building block.
- jd250

Ducks will win this trade. Drysdale is a failure at this point and I don’t see him getting much better or being healthy enough to stay in the ice.

Your disdain for the kid is laughable and blinds you from reality. Just like your love for a Torts and the other two bozos.

You replied "just like he was at BC" to a poster who criticized Gauthier. You don't realize how foolish you look when you post that you watched the game sometimes with an NHL scouts, do you? You don't know what a fallacy is, do you? History of your posting tells us whether you know what you're talking about.
- MJL

Yes, because that poster rightly pointed out that Gauthier is a perimiter player which is what he was at BC and is currently. All I can say I have been right far more than wrong in my player evaluations. From Frost, to Farabee, to Risto and even recently when I correctly stated Cates was the best center the Flyers have right now which has also proven to be true.

Well, TK had no points, +1, 1 SOG. Difference maker in this game for sure.
- TheFreak

What does TK have to do with Gauthier? All I know is I noticed TK out there a lot more than I noticed Gauthier.

i heard them say this too on the broadcast. something along the lines of "he's been up and down the lineup because he likes to shoot - maybe too much - and it can bother some of his linemates who want to develop plays"

I have seen a bunch of Ana games now. I think Gauthier is still finding his way. One thing they have asked him to change is his shot attempts….he used to fire it from anywhere. They are asking him to play more within the team structure which involves getting the other 4 guys on the ice involved.
Michkov has hit a bit of a wall. But I hope he stays in and they just let him be. If anyone should come out it’s Poehling…but we all know that ain’t happening.

- landros 2

True about Poehling but that is only because the Flyers lack centers. I would sit Michkov one game and then get him back in there. The best option for Michkov in the lineup is with Cates and Brink to be honest, but you really can't break up that line right now because with Foerster they are the best line the Flyers have. I mean I have to be honest here. Tippet and TK are really hard to play with, Couts is cooked and Frost is up and down. Briere really has to make some trades this sesason and off season and get more complimentary players for Michkov to play with.

100% I think stats like possession (CF%) and expected goals for (xGF) are good when evaluating a line or a 5 man unit, but not an individual player. If you were watching the game yesterday and didn't see one stat, who would you say where the best players on the Ducks? Gauthier's name should not even be in your top 10. To me the players that consistently were noticable in that game were Terry, MacTavish, Vatrano and Zellweger, who is pretty much a clone of Drysdale.

And this is what he did at BC and the WJCs, he shoots all the time. It's very predictable and why a lot of his shots never make it to the net. You can get away with that in college, but not the NHL. Like I said, the Flyers will consider themselves lucky to have moved on from him.

One does not even need any hockey knowledge whatsoever to refute your points. Just simple common sense. A player does not get picked as a Hobey Baker finalist, one of the top 3 players in collegiate hockey by being a perimeter player. You can continue to live in fantasy land all you want. You can't escape your record. You called Ristolainen the Flyers best defenseman and one of the best in the NHL. That is an example

What did Frost or Hextall have to do with it when you brought them into an unrelated conversation. This is an example of how hypocritical you are.

The miracle cure of sitting him one game. I wouldn't do that. I'd put him on the top line and give him plenty of ice time. Tell him to go out and play his game. Couturier is not cooked. Briere making trades is a scary thought

i think HB was down when this came out: https://www.broadstreetho...kov-says-john-tortorella/

team just desperately needs centers.

what complimentary players do you think briere should target?

MM needs a legit #1 center, not a complimentary one.
