How many more coaches are we gonna run through? Friends are telling me we should go after Quenneville, Im not sure that will fix anything.

Maybe these guys need Mike Babcock to see how good they had it.

Three coaches, all preaching the same thing, all ignored. It's on the players.

from the outside, do you seem them selling looking towards next season or buying trying to turn it around?

I think the initial goal is the latter. But the longer this goes south, the more likely it's to build for the future.

Because its Dolan at the helm, he will try to salvage it, instead of doing whats necessary.
- aecliptic

If the Knicks keep winning, Dolan may be satisfied there. Sather used to be the buffer, that is no longer the case as he has stepped back.

What the fans who somehow still go to the games should do is start anti Dolan chants because that’s the best way to get his bum ass to pay attention

You don't just use the money during the year to just use the money. Maybe there is no strategy, but you don't just make a knee jerk reaction to utilize the financial savings ASAP. I am not sold on Drury but would be worse to just double down and make a panic move to take on another bad contract.
- airjan23

Then what was the rush to get rid of these contracts? He didn’t have a plan in place to use the money and basically punted the season for no reason. Everything was about saving money this year including overpaying for a washed Rielly Smith so PITT would retain money and then he did nothing with it.

Lavy should just resign instead of getting fired because he deserves to quit on this team. I’d give him a round of applause

This year may be a blessing in disguise. Get humbled from the top to the bottom. Get a top 5 draft pick, use the salary cap space next year to fix the roster of the slugs on it. Let this year crash and burn and forget it ever happen

For now call up othmann, heatlhy scratch both Zib and Kreider until they ask to be traded. Matter of fact tell them both to stay home and away from the team

They should probably name a captain to at least have a sense of leadership in the room and I’d give it to Trocheck

Teams especially the Islanders get killed locking up bottom pair forwards and dmen to these lousy contracts. You cannot do this in a Cap world. Not all players are equal.

It's not right these coaches have to take the heat all the time. Especially when GM's want to play coaches as well now days.

I’d put the Drury gets fired percentage at negative percent chance. People gonna have to deal 😬

What’s funny (and sad), is if Lavy deployed himself out there he might do better then half the roster

Rangers will definitely sell now. It’s too much ground to cover and teams to pass

So what can they get for rentals:

Borgen
Smith
Lindgren
Vesey
Quick (I think he’d be open to going to a contender again)

Then the term guys:
Kreider (I’d be stunned if he isn’t traded, and agree to it)
Miller

Know how we’ve been female doging about not having any picks, well here we go. If Drury retains 50% on 3 of those trades, the picks will be even better. It’ll make the year a little more salvageable and easier to accept imo

I dont think its a matter of rush. I think its a matter of doing what you can when you can.

Would anyone have ever thought that we would trade Trouba without retention AND get a player (former 1st rounder) and draft pick? No. Drury probably thought this was going to be the best deal he would get as Im sure hes probably had several offers.

Goodrow, well, he wasnt playing ball. So you do what you have to do.

Kakko, the only one with balls, got nixed. Just like the guys who wore the "Fire Dolan" tshirts.

All of this Im sure didnt sit well with the core of the team and we see the result as its only gotten worse.

This was a test for the rest of players and they’ve failed miserably and will be out of the org because of it. It’s only a matter of when

I dont think it was a test. I dont think their opinions mattered one bit to Drury. It was going to happen no matter what.

What I mean is Drury now knows for sure this group can’t get it done, and is going to have a busy next 9 months til opening night next season

If anything, they picked a good year to get blasted because the East is loaded this year, and he can really see what he needs based on that

These are the more damning pieces in my opinion:

The Rangers have quit on their coach, they have quit on the organization, they have quit on themselves, they have quit on each other, they have quit on the fans who pay top dollar to fill the Garden and they have quit on New York.

Laviolette and his staff have done themselves no favors. The Rangers have no structure. They have not defended from Game 1. There is no coherent way out of the defensive zone. There is no forecheck. The neutral zone has become a sieve. The same mistakes are committed over and over again. There have been few adjustments. There has been no accountability.

This last-place team does not present a single redeeming quality. They lack self-belief. They do not compete. At this point, there is not a single player who is playing well. This has become an unhealthy environment for the kids who are supposed to be learning how to conduct themselves.

That's an interesting take given the history of recent coaches we've discussed. Maybe The Cigar makes a return as interim coach since Dolan likes him.
Man, I have no idea what to do with this team. It's disgusting. They have quit on themselves except for a few players. Like you said, call up some kids and start by telling Zib to expect to be in the pressbox for the foreseeable future. If it's his young kid at home or something off the ice in his head then he needs to figure it out. This has gone on far too long.

Forget when/where but saw speculation that there could be compliance buyouts again in the next CBA in 2026. Would be enormous for NYR dealing with Mika. That may have been before the expected $5M cap increase though.

Ugh! Far too long. Can only hope he gets his head out of his ass between now and then. I'd still buy him out though, no matter how much he picks it up Mika is still toast and will never be worth his cap hit.
