Thank god they lost a couple more stupid Luck goals scored. They’ve really had some stupid puck luck going in the net this year - Just5 Seriously? You do know that puck luck goals tend to even out in the course of the season. Go Sharks!

Torts is a lightning rod. Some folks really like him and some folks really hate him. It's actually refreshing in today's politically correct world to have someone speak their mind instead of just giving the standard vanilla answers all the time. With the goalies and centers on this team, it's actually amazing that they are anywhere near .500. You can blame Torts for that. - Phillywhiteout
coach of the year consideration. he is installing a winning culture. he has them on the right path. |

They've had plenty go their way this season. The Frost goal last game against the Ducks and the Michkov goal last night. It's the Tortorella way. Sit back and play passively in the 3rd period, block shots. You're asking for some bad luck.

Is Tortorella handling Michkov the right way?
No. Torts should be teaching and then sending him right back out there. Instead he is using the only weapon he knows, which is to bench him. Torts is not a good developmental coach and in fact the worst coach this franchise could possibly have. He is taking an untalented team and getting them to over achieve, but in over achieving, they cant get actual talent without overpaying in free agency. SO here we are living in purgatory, not good enough to make the playoffs, not bad enough to get elite talent in the draft. Three late round firsts isn't going to cut it. That will just get you 3 third liners. And nobody is trading top 5 picks for any reason.
Is what John is trying to teach getting through to him with all the language barriers and youthfulness, the kid has?Nobody knows what Torts is trying to teach him because he had admitted time and time again he knows nothing about offense. He should be marching that kid out there over and over, not benching him because he didnt block a shot or missed a coverage.
Is Matvei in a slump or fading away? Its a slump, he will be here much longer than Torts. Michkov has dealt with much worse things than having a dinosaur trying to get him to play like Jon Sim. - MBFlyerfan

For all the love Torts gets from some posters why can't he admit the PP is hot garbage and make a change with Rocky? We have seen enough of Rocky yet there is never accountability. All those advisors (LeClair, Sharpe...) with PowerPoint decks and a group approach to fixing the PP seems to really have not worked out for the Flyers.

I'm wondering if Michkov is now no longer fatigued. No longer hitting the rookie wall. No longer has something wrong with him. |

LOL, to the Torts crowd MM39 is now fixed by the great Torts. Now, when is he going to give TK a rest for accountability on the ice?

That was a really good behind the back blind pass high in the offensive zone. What could go wrong. |

got into an exchange on FB with a Flyers group, they think Torts is a genius, tried to discuss the facts, and his fact was MM was exhausted, happens all the time to rookies, that benching is a proven method that works. I do believe it does but told him Torts overuses it, didnt realize the guy was the admin, and I was nice but he deleted me from the group none the less LOL. touchy subject

Well, it was pretty obvious that extra period of rest after being off 4 days over Christmas really made the difference in the back to backs. Torts is a genius. Who would have thought that extra 20 minutes would make all the difference?

Facebook is the absolute worst for sports debating. It's ridiculous the amount of ignorance on there. I gave up years ago using them. |

Z was going D-to-D... TK re-entered the zone and intercepted the pass in front of Risto. |

Well of course, that reduction of 5 on 5 ice time of about 3 minutes in that game was all it took to refill the tank for Michkov so that he was no longer exhausted. A bunch of mental midgets.

That is an example of how poorly coached the Flyers are in the offensive zone. Spacing is really poor. No option for Zamula other than D to D or throw into the empty corner. Nobody in the middle of the ice or opposite of the puck. Really easy to defend. Easy for Foegele to aggressively play up high. |

i didn't say TK was absolved of any wrong-doing. but as Bouch said, he was given a hand grenade basically. doesn't matter if it went to TK or Risto, someone was going to be all over them when the puck arrived.
down low was pretty covered as well - I'd like to see Zam try to wire one through traffic - he had time. the no look pass probably threw both of them off
wasn't hard to read defensively because, as MJL said, their spacing was poor |

Funny Torts is handling Michkov wrong yet the game immediately after being benched for a period has his best game in what months? You may not like his methods but they work. |

think about it. his tactics work with competitive players. TK, Michkov and York are great examples. Even brink has been more noticeable lately.
who did it not work with? hmm...Frost and Hayes immediately come to mind.

Just giving a different view here, but couldn't it also be possible he'd have the same performance last had he played the 3rd against Anaheim?
It's hard to quantify if benching someone works or not. |
