You're some guy on HB also who thinks he knows, yet you have been consistently been proven wrong on most of what you post. Here are some facts for you. Since he won the Cup in 2004, in soon to be 18 seasons as an NHL head coach. He has taken a team past the 2nd round once. He has a worse winning percentage as a Flyers head coach than the two full time head coaches who came before him. He has a career winning percentage of .541. His playoff winning percentage is .467. Tell me what is so special about him as a coach? He is the most overrated coach in hockey. - MJL
No Im some guy on HB who thinks that theres a reason that someone qualified to run a NHL club would hire a guy whos qualified to Coach an NHL team. These people get hired for a reason. If it was the way people suggest. Gretzky would still be coaching. He isnt because he was bad at it.

Just what a so-called rebuilding team needs. - mikeyo27
Depends on hopw you want to rebuild. People want to rebuild like Buffalo has been doing and it hasnt worked out either. Flyers need to continue to draft and develop. We currently have the 11th overall pick, 5 points back of 4th overall, 4 point sout of a WC. Their season is very much up in the air. All it takes is one streak good or bad and we've seen this team lose 10 straight.

Looking forward to Michkov-Celebrini tonight. Probably won't be able to watch until tomorrow morning.

Sure, they get hired for a reason. Everyone gets hired for a reason. Fletcher was hired for a reason and was qualified to run an NHL team. Was he a good GM? You have the logic fail that just because you were hired, means you're good at your job. Coaches get fired because it's deemed that they've been bad at their job. Then they get hired by someone else.

The continual bringing up of Buffalo is really silly. Regardless of what rebuild method is chosen. There will be successes and failures. No method is 100% successful. It then becomes a question of which method has a higher rate of success. Here is a hint. It's not the Flyers methods. |

The FO chose to remove players before firing the coach. You would assume the coach is next. I am not sure they will trade Panarin or Zib. That seems like the nuclear option. I will give the FO some credit. They are willing to make some uncomfortable decisions and take action on them. Not sure they are the right ones but they at least picked a lane.
They have plenty of talent. Seems like they lack some want to. |

I personally would like a more offensive oriented coach.

they need a leader like Laughton to lead the way. |

Worst case for the Flyers is that the Rangers move on from Panarin, Zib and Kreider. Then McDavid tests FA and decides he wants to go to the Big Apple.

they likely will as pannarin only has 1.5 years left. Kreider 2.5. Zib they are likely stuck with.
They better hope their goalie picks it up. he has not looked himself this season and even last season to an extent. |

But but but…
He may wake up, call his agent and say,
“Get me signed with the Flyers! They have an amazing hockey culture, a great room and a fantastic coach. Their front office is among the very best in the NHL and I want to be there.”

Sadly, what we will get is another Kevin Hayes situation where we flat out have to overpay to get him to sign. Therefore getting an overpaid cap anchor in the process.

Love it. Ristolainen has gone from cap anchor to too valuable to trade in mere months. Very funny and entertaining how the cycle of media coverage carries water for the Flyers. Dimarco really carrying hard these days. |

Whomever the Flyers do end up overpaying for in free agency will be sold to the masses as a legit elite talent, while in reality they will be a level or two below that.
Several water carriers in the media waiting in the wings ready to back up that assertion by the company. |

Agreed, my fear is that once they have the cap space available they sign UFAs to bloated contracts to get into contention. Everything they are doing or not doing seems to point that way.

They will absolutely do this, they always do this. As long as Clarke, Holmgren and Jones are still breathing nothing will ever change.
They don’t learn from mistakes because they don’t believe that they ever make any mistakes. Scapegoats are always blamed for failure, be it Hextall, Fletcher and, eventually, Danny Briere. It’s never the fault of those who live at the top of their orange Mt. Olympus. The Gods are always in the right. |

Of course he methods dont work, hes 9th in wins all time because hes lucky. Clearly some guy on hockeybuzz knows better. Too bad he never blessed the NHL his his methods....... - xShoot4WarAmpsx
4th in losses and 8th in games coached. So despite being 8th in games coached he is only 9th in wins and alarmingly 4th in losses. What am i supposed to be impressed by again other than his ability to stay employed?
Torts last success came before the salary cap was implemented 20 years ago but he's been dining on that for the last 2 decades. The guy is a great politician. Get's credit for any success and zero blame for any failure. Every win is just because of how awesome he is and every loss is because of how bad the team is.

MJL keeps saying Jones was speaking about cap space and using it once it gets freed up. I think it was an interview last year, so yeah, seems like they are just waiting until they can sign a shiny new toy. |
