So are the Rangers really this bad, if so, they better hope they have some good kids in the Pipeline

They could be the cautionary tale for giving out contracts similar to Couturier and TK....

4th in losses and 8th in games coached. So despite being 8th in games coached he is only 9th in wins and alarmingly 4th in losses. What am i supposed to be impressed by again other than his ability to stay employed?

Torts last success came before the salary cap was implemented 20 years ago but he's been dining on that for the last 2 decades. The guy is a great politician. Get's credit for any success and zero blame for any failure. Every win is just because of how awesome he is and every loss is because of how bad the team is.

Or the players have no faith in the GM. With what Drury did to trouba i wouldn't want to play for him either.

No Im some guy on HB who thinks that theres a reason that someone qualified to run a NHL club would hire a guy whos qualified to Coach an NHL team. These people get hired for a reason. If it was the way people suggest. Gretzky would still be coaching. He isnt because he was bad at it.

Fletcher was hired because of his relationship with Clarke, because he was a "good guy", and because Chuck wouldn't take a leak without asking Clarke/Holmgren for permission first.

https://www.nytimes.com/a...ization-culture-fletcher/

Track record and ability were not in the top 2 reasons.

Torts was hired because the Flyers wanted a name coach to give them credibility. Something the PR dept could work with. When the Flyers called he was the only coach with name recognition who picked up the phone because of the franchise dysfunction. Torts picked up the phone because nobody else was calling, it was the Flyers or officially retire.

Those are reasons, none of them good reasons and none that predicate success. The Flyers are the modern day Chicago Bears of the NHL. Both have confusing power structures that make bad decisions. The Flyers just have a multinational PR department behind them so they sell it better.

Player has a NTC. So he can't be traded. Drury says either you accept a trade or we will place you on waivers and you will have no say on where you go.

I am sure in the next CBA that kind of maneuver will be stopped. Drury did it twice and both players ended up going to Anaheim.

I am saying that is not the only reason. Just part of it. They just seem to suck at everything.

Even their 11 million dollar goalie it seems to immune on what is happening.

Last time I saw collapse like this was the Eagles last season.

Why would it be stopped? How would that be done in the next CBA? Players already have a stipulation in the CBA to protect them from that kind of maneuver.

Players sign get a NTC for a reason. For a GM to force a player to be traded or be waived is not kosher.

I am sure the Players Associate will figure out something.

What was done was perfectly within the rules. Players have the ability to get a NMC in their contract.

Oh well. Team comes first. He did a masterful job trading him.

It will not be stopped as there was nothing done that was wrong. Both were great business moves.
