I think what happens is, unless they rally really soon and a win a bunch of games in a row…is sell Smith, Borgen, Lindgren, Quick and Vesey for picks. In addition, facilitate trades where he retains salary as a 3rd party. Probably trades Kreider and gets a 1st rd pick. Miller is a tough call. Zib is probably staying til at least the summer. I think that’s a start to a retool where next year they can revamp a nice portion of the roster and get back at it

Yea it’s possible he just wants to live stress free now and collect a check and play a few games. But if plays like last night for a stretch they could get a nice pick for him. Maybe some goalies to get hurt around the NHL

It does not make sense to trade for similar players with age and term.

Time to look ahead and build around Gabe; trade for his players from BC. Prospects in the pipeline for years.

Krieder will go to Wash and play with Ovi, then we can get Leonard.

Same with Miller to Minnesota.

ZiB, he is a tough read but would be a good swap for Zegras in Anaheim and we would have to include something to offset the salary.

Slow and steady to build the foundation, but then Igor will not want to stay. So audition Dylan as the season ends and look to dangle Igor before draft for top pick.

I think you’re probably right. Garand, Othmann, Sykora, Mancini, Jones, and one or two other guys from Hartford could easily fill those roles without much slippage. Maybe better to wait a year for Perreault to not burn a year unless they’re making a serious run. Best case scenario honestly.

If this team did overachieve last year, thenDrury really was not able to make moves while they are winning. I am not convinced Drury did/does not want to move on from Gorton contracts this whole time. Say he wanted to and planned to, well there is no GM that gets the green light to offload core players when they are winning. So which is the worse year? This year where reality lives or last year in la la land that delayed Drury trying to initiate his plan?
