I see the over-reaction to the US World Juniors win has begun.

Damien Cox had an interesting take:

If Canada still cared about this tournament like we used to 20-30 years ago, we would all be going berserk.

This fits me to a T.

I don't think I watched more than 10 minutes of the entire tournament this year.

Except the possible incoming pc party is already corrupt.
Has a leader that cant pass a security clearance.

- Fakepartofme

All that might be true, but I think change is needed once in awhile. Four years of conservative rule won’t kill us and it will serve to humble the liberals. Parties that are in power too long seem to forget who put them there and whose money they’re spending.

Back in the day I used to set the old vcr so I wouldn’t miss a minute. I think fanatical fans are a thing of the past, we’re getting old and the young people don’t care about it that much.

100% on unchecked, underregulated, undertaxed corporate greed. Almost all of those issues are rooted in greed and both parties lick boots.

Change the "leader" or "party", but nothing changes for the poor. Both sides have had 50 chances to get this poop right. They fail and blame the other side. Lather, rinse, repeat.

So perhaps a stupid question (or questions):

When McCabe was out last month, was it officially concussion protocol? Or was it just "upper body injury?"

And are teams required to disclose if a guy is in concussion protocol?

It used to be that Canada was the only nation that really cared about the World Juniors. It isn't true anymore.

If nobody can figure out what is wrong with Matthews (funniest guess I've heard is hair transplant), I'd say chances are they can hide whatever injury they want.

With every team having a rat these days, it's probably for the best that nobody knows the player injuries because for sure it would be targeted at some point.

I agree that the major parties in both countries are very comfortable with economic structures that favour the wealthy and big corporations. Libs and Dems usually try to implement little fixes on the edges: more social supports and tweaks to the tax system. The other guys tend to push cuts to social spending and tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy. Neither group will go anywhere close to significant structural changes.

The lather, rinse thing is mind if true except maybe in the case of the techno bros assuming power in your country. If they succeed in implementing their agenda you guys are in for a world of hurt.

The about to be new guy up here is a dorky, weasel but likely kind of harmless. No politician in Canada could ever implement the kind of changes being contemplated in DC

Two major differences in how concussions are handled:

It’s not just up to teams as to whether players are pulled during if there’s a chance of a concussion. Independent spotters can make that decision.

There are specific in the recovery process that teams are expected to follow. Like other injuries though, teams decide how a player proceed through those steps and I don’t think teams are obligated to disclose the nature of the injury.

I look forward to the new team name: the Phoenix Phoenix.

Or the Phoenix Firebirds.

Probably better off with the Arizona Phoenix. Get the whole desert state to ignore your winter weather sport instead of just one city.

Their mascot can drive a TransAm either way though.

Uggie, pompous and arrogant as always, but usually wrong in the end.

We'll see what kind of Utopian La La Land we live in after a term of your Dark Lord and Saviour.

Are you still cutting yourself in your mom's basement?

Nah, I'm usually right which is why you get so butthurt.

We'll see everything get significantly better because it can't get any worse. Already got the miss piggy Muppet and the CCP WEF puppet to quit on day one.
