Barron is still young and could always turn out fine, but I highly doubt he'll be more than a bottom-pairing dman.
we aren't hearing as much vitriol against Dvorak because his line is actually doing consistently well, with Gally and Andy they form a more than decent veteran line.
I like Pezz and find hating him would be unjustified in a way considering he's sacrificed himself a lot over the years by taking on much bigger guys than him and didn't look horrible in the process, but I get he isn't doing well enough to keep him with the team, as he's barely being used right now. I'd rather see him play regularly in the AHL, and give a chance to a younger guy instead who deserves it. - Pat1993
Even when he was "at his peak" he's always 3 seconds late on every play and all he can do his "finish his check" on a D that has passed the puck 2 seconds ago.
But I don't really hate him, you need a extra forward to travel with the team in case someone gets hit by a car in Utah. But now that we know that Émille is out for 3-4 weeks can't we call up somebody who can make a hockey play?

Was talking to some buddies yesterday about how i can't believe I don't want to throw my remote at the tv anymore everytime Dvorak has the puck. It's crazy how that whole team did a complete 180 in such a short time. I'm even thinking about the possibility of giving another contract to Armia at the end of the year... Still not sure though considering all the poop years he gave us. - BashCH
yeah, let's just say that at a lower salary his performances would've been much more digestable...
he seems to be a good teammate though, and has definitely been contributing to the team in the past couple of years.

that would be the logical solution, yes, they have options in Laval.

Gotta give it to Armia, since he was sent down to Laval last year he's pretty much whitout a fault.
No he won't ever be the promise of a power forward that made him a first round pick but he's a great 3rd-4th liner with that size and speed. |

I think Pez, Dvorak and Savard are 100% gone next year (either at the TDL or as free agents not resigned). They have Carrier as a Savard replacement for a few years.
Armia is likely gone, but I could see him being around for the right price at a low cap hit.
Evans is the wild card.
We will likely see 3-4 new faces in the forward lineup in 25/26, perhaps not all of them rookies. |

There's not alot of 15ish goals 6'4 guys around the league that make alot less than he does. |

if the habs do re-sign him there surely will be a significant drop in his next contract, he's already made his big money lol

I think losing Savard will hurt more than we anticipate. It's more than just his once-ice play, he's the big brother of the team, the other day when they took a couple of bad penalties he yelled at everybody on the bench to get their poop together and they did.
I really haven't seen that from anybody else, Suzuki isn't that type of captain. I think he's the little wheels on the bike a young team still needs. |

Would be cool if he does. But at 31 it's likely his last good contract opportunity, I guess it depends what the market throws at him but history as shown us there's always a GM ready to make mistakes.
And then they go to Boca Raton to have meetings to complain about the contracts that they give out. |

I kind of agree that Savard seems to still play an important role on the team, MSL said a few times that it's like having a coach-player, which says a lot. |

Rumors are he wants to stay in Montreal and would be willing to take a little less money to do so.
I think a 3 years term at a reasonable price makes sense. He's a very useful player when he's playing at his best, which has been the case ever since his small stint in the AHL.
We might not be able to afford both him and Evans though. |

kinda surprised by this with the cap going up, but if that's the case I think I'd rather keep Evans, unless Beck is 100% ready to take on such a role...

Well Slaf is getting a 7 millions pay raise..
Dobes and Heineman are RFA, Evans, Armia, Savard, Dvorak are UFA.
Petry and Allen are off the books, Price still is but I don't know how that works

yeah, I guess there's lots to consider, I was assuming that since they won't be huge contracts they'd easily be able to keep both Evans and Armia...

It's not so much about the money than the term they might expect.
Yes we'll shred some money, but we'll also need to pay Hutson, Demidov, Reinbacher, etc. soonish. And some guys like Slaf and Guhle are getting raise next season.
I like Evans and Armia, I hope they can stick around, but not at all cost.

for sure. as much as I like Evans, if he's firm on getting 4M+, they might have to move on lol... I kinda doubt he'll be asking that much though, he doesn't seem to be an unreasonable individual.

while forbidden fruit cake sounded like a really suspicious dating website, i must say it's a really good strain. i don't remember large portions of last night but i do remember having to tell myself not to get out of bed to order munchies. |
