Ever since that mental health crisis thing he hasn’t been the same

They need to fire Housley. This D corp is down right turrrrble

It’s not the d men alone. The forwards offer zero support in the defensive zone. Usually the d men are left alone to cover 4 guys

According to Friedman, the Rangers are allowing Jones to look for somewhere else to play.
The Rangers gave Zac Jones permission to talk to other teams. There’s interest, and he’s good enough to take advantage of a new opportunity. One caveat: since he’s not a big guy, teams with a smallish blue line are an unlikelier destination.
Yet Miller still plays every game. Make it make sense.

Fox was very weak on the OT goal. Benn pushed /crosschecked him 5 feet before the goal. Had bad positioning. He's not gonna push the bigger Benn around but could've been tougher against him

Careful 😬

You could make the argument that every defenseman we have sucks in one way or another

Saw this yesterday and meant to share. Anyone understand how this works? Is it basically allowing him to find a team that wants him and then rangers release/terminate his contract so he can sign there instead of actively trying to trade him?

How about Miller watching the next 5 games from the press box and giving Jones a chance to showcase himself?

Yea the problem is our dcore personnel is really weak. Doesn’t help when majority of the fwds just do fly bys in the dzone and don’t commit to any defense. Panarin zib kreider tro Laf all can’t defend well. Rangers have a big problem defensively from the coaching to personnel. Good teams win that game 3-1.

There is no system that I can tell. Man to man coverage is clearly not working but lets keep doing it anyway.

I would unload him for just about anything- he's a ticking time bomb for another inevitable head injury.

well this was so predictable

Agreed. Solid player but always hurt. Can’t rely on him whatsoever

It’s really sad how thin this org is a center. Jbrod has actually played decent at wing but he’s the only option now to fill in. If it’s head again for Fil would be foolish to bring him back this season, don’t recall him even being hit last night.

It is why they have not won a cup since Messier. You need to draft an elite center or get lucky like they did with Mess and trade/sign for one.

i cannot believe how pathetic fox was on that OT goal.

that was shameful.

like brooks said - every single defenseman has regressed under housley.

A few caveats there:
1) it's 4 on 3, so tons of space
2) He was checked in the back by Jamie Benn, which created space
3) Fox also has to watch the seam pass due to all the open room on the ice and the fact Dallas is on the PP

That said, he should have opened up and taken away the pass. But 1-3 shows why that also may not have happened.

Aside from the Caps, who have Ovie and maybe the Blues who had ROR, who I dont think is elite, the past 15 have had elite Centers!! Tampa, Fla, Hawks, Pens, Kings

I’ve said it all year that Fox gets a pass for some reason. He’s the 2nd highest paid player on the team. The PP sucks. He’s small. He’s not very fast.

There is no reason whatsoever he shouldn’t be on the table to trade just like anyone else. He has no clauses to hurdle over and he’d probably get the best return in assets. But before you know it that won’t be the case because he’s without a doubt slowing down

This isn’t some kind of I told you so either, it’s what’s best for the NY Rangers imo

Nick Backstrom was a pretty damn good center, Kuznetsov still cared and was really good as well
