Yes, they are bad but he should be still putting up more points. He is in his D+ year so I really don't want to hear the excuses... If he was worthy of being drafted before Zeev then he better be more than a 3C which is where I see him in the NHL. Otherwise, it was a bad pick.

Early indications all point to the Flyers picking the wrong guy but we've seen plenty of kids shoot the lights in junior/WJC only to crash and burn in the NHL. And there are also the edge cases where kids who weren't putting up big numbers in junior find their wings in the pros when it becomes more about determination and operating within a system than just pure talent. Stranger things have happened.

Still hate the pick tho, just like I hated the Cutter pick.

My question is this: What would you offer for Elias Pettersson?

I believe the Flyers would offer their first, Jet Luchenko, and Scott Lawton…to start..

Absolutely and agree with everything here. I certainly don't hate the kid. I hope he turns into a great player. I just simply don't like the pick lol

1. If I were the Blackhawks, I would do everything possible to prevent Denver coach David Carle from even reaching the market. If Carle wishes to coach the Pioneers through the rest of the season in search of a second-straight title and third in four years, no problem, but the Blackhawks are in a unique spot where they can strike now — even if it means he isn’t coming until April.

St. Louis danced with him last summer and New Jersey made an introductory call, but someone is going to go all-out and soon. People love winners. Carle has a negotiator’s true power: the ability to say no. He’s got as much security as you can get in a place he loves. He’s seen how some of his peers who left the NCAA for the NHL were handled, and will leave not only for financial security but somewhere he believes he has a legitimate shot to win. When Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson confronted his players after the Winter Classic, it was a signal the status quo is not acceptable. They were embarrassed. You can’t always rush a rebuild, but you have to compete and certainly can energize your fanbase by landing a coveted coach.

They do not have the horses to acquire Pettersson in my opinion.

The Flyers might need to engage the HR department.

Imagine if they were willing to include TK. Then they may be able work out a deal.

I was just going off of Capwages. If years 6-10 aren't accurate and would be more then there is nothing to consider.

He is cooked based on the contract he has. I get that he can still be somewhat effective in a lesser role. But his contract demands more than that.

He is just a sunk cost at this point.

- mickel25

Coots got everything it was possible to get in a contract. Fletch never won on contracts always losing on term, amount, and clauses which is why he had no problem signing players. Coots is in complete control of his career in every aspect except ice time (because you can't guarantee that in a contract, yet). That's how the Flyers won the ND sweepstakes, by giving more for longer than any sane GM.

The contract was never going to age well based on age and playing style but the hope when signing these contracts is the front half would offset the terrible backend which would then be shipped to ARI (only with Coots permission in this case). Now there's no ARI to ship him off to even if he would let them.

Nucks mainly want NHL dmen and the Flyers can't afford to give any good ones up.

Do not know what they are looking for as part of a return. Would imagine they need to replace his scoring.

Send them Sanheim + as the Flyers are rebuilding. So I am told.

Unless TK can shift to the middle it doesn't work. Like the Flyers they're deeper on wing than anywhere else (Boeser, Garland, Hoglander, Debrusk, Lekkerimaki). Nucks would want a center in return and Cates and/or Frost probably aren't gonna cut it.

There's 0% chance Torts would allow Danny to move either Sanheim or York right now.

After game #41 Tipp's at 11-goals, with none in his past 7-games... and that missed empty net last night lol.

What are the chances our 40-goal scorer even hits 20 this season?

It was a big mistake signing a one dimensional player like Tippett to an 8 year deal. Flyers are going to Flyer.

I am still waiting for him to hit 30 goals in a season.

That's the great thing about these 8 year contracts, if it doesn't work out the guy who signed him is usually a job or 2 down the road already so what does he care?

His no trade doesn’t kick in until after next season. He’s the kind of guy most GMs drool over. Much like Bonk, the idea of him is better than the actual production. Tippett + Bonk + 1st would pretty much get the Flyers any available player even some on that are on the fence of availability but Briere isn’t willing to do it.

I do not believe that. Tippett has value but I do not think Bonk has much. A 10-14 first round pick is not great value. Those three together do not land a top line player like Pettersson IMHO.

Dunno, Boeser was on the trade block for like 4 seasons straight and nobody bit.

GMs are looking for more than just goals out of their goal-scorers these days.

Right handed defenseman with good size who has been on the Canadian world juniors team two years running. That’s meth to old school hockey guys. Don’t forget that the Flyers were not the only team lining up to overpay in a Ristolainen trade when he had multiple seasons of objectively terrible play in the NHL. Bonk is all promise right now making him even more valuable.

Boeser had a lot of injury concerns and a higher cap hit by percentage during the flat cap era.

Tippett has size speed the occasional highlight goal plus decent cap hit going forward.

Flyers fans see him everyday and internet posting fans do not think the same as actual employed hockey men.

I do not agree but it is really a moot point. No way the Flyers trade three assets they value in one trade for a player like Pettersson.

I agree. There is no point of even discussing trades. I doubt the Flyers will even trade one real asset. Briere is out of his league. He’s too worried about being taken advantage of to actually get anything done and without any fan pressure he doesn’t have to. He can ride out the “rebuilding” sell for the next few years since the paying fans are eating the marketing bowl of crap that Jones and their press friends are selling.

Ek reporting the Flyers have offered their 1st pick, Luchanko and Laughton to Vancouver for Pettersson. Would you do it? Where does he get this stuff?
