Every player leads in his own way. I think it's likely, even probable that Couturier's demeanor is quite different among his teammates behind closed door than with the public face he puts out. How long it took to put the C on him was just a part of Tortorella's manipulation

Like Tortorella was the true Jack Adams award winner and Ristolainen is the Flyers true best defenseman. Hart is a true franchise goalie and on and on and on.

Everything the Flyers do is wrong, they are a joke of a franchise, a laughing stock, never will win a cup again .. and so on and so on ...

Risto is the Flyers best defenseman, its indisputable at this point! He is a legitmate top 4 defenseman that playoff bound teams will covet at this year's deadline.

Proclaiming Risto is the Flyers best defenseman doesn’t have the effect you think it does.

I truly felt at BC Will Smith, Ryan Leonard and Parreault were all better, more impactful players than Guathier was. You could clearly see Gauthier could skate, has a quick shot release, and a shoot first mentality, so I can see why the Flyers selected him. But I also had concerns he was getting all the hype when to me there were players at BC that were clearly better than he was.

But with all said, the thing that bothers me the most about Gauthier is just what he said the day before the game yesterday, that he wishes the fans knew the truth. I presume this means his side of the story. Yet 1 year later we still have not heard his side of the story and he was once again reluctant to speak about it this weekend. The Flyers certainly had no problem telling their side of the story. You would think after that he would fire back with his truth. But alas he remains silent. So how can someone genuinely state he wishes the fans knew the truth, but then once again refuse to tell his side of the story? Perhaps its because he has no truth to stand on? Perhaps its because what the Flyers released is what actually happened, and all Gauthier would be doing is lying? The kid does have a lot to learn, and frankly I think he got a few lessons last night. I have no problem routing against a player while they are playing, like Crosby, but when its time for him to retire the Flyer fans will give him a standing O, because he deserves it. He was one of the best players in history and off the ice a great embassador of the game. Gauthier, right now anyway, has serious character issues and for his sake I hope he acknowledges and corrects them before its too late.

It's ridiculous that you think he has serious character issues based on a few misguided comments. Example of a serious character issues would be not showing up for practice, being verbally or physically abusive to people, committing a crime, etc. Again, just more hyperbole from you.

Makar is Colorado’s top d man….Q. Hughes is VCR’s top d man….both not disputed…Risto has has a good year….but it’s more then debatable whether he’s the Flyers top D…to me it’s Sanheim…and it’s not that close.

The Kid hasn’t painted himself in the best light on several occasions….but I’ve chalked it up to maturity. He’s still young, and with some it can take a little adjustment….I agree “serious” character issues is a different level.

Torts after game presser: was he dissing the fans? Was he being an a$$ to the media? Or did he mean that he hopes one day the Flyers will actually be good and worth cheering for on a regular basis, especially in the playoffs?

How sad is it that a game against the Ducks is the bets thing Flyers fans have had to cheer for in years.

I agree. Right now its Sanheim. I think York will eventually be better, he has taken a step backwards this season granted I do believe he was playing well before he got hurt. I could be wrong though. You could maybe slot Risto as the 3rd or 4th best D on the team. Seeler or Risto could be slotted in 3rd IMO. Drysdale and Zamula are currently battling for the bottom 2 positions. Jamie is of course a work in progress. Zamula IMO is what he is.

Numbers don't lie. This same team was 21-14-6 with Hart, without Hart they are 17-19-5 for two half seasons in a row. Why is that? Because Hart carried this team on his back!

Risto is clearly the Flyers best defenseman, its not even close at this point. And though he has his faults and I don't always agree with him on things, like keeping Rocky around, I think Torts is one of the best coaches in the league.

Have you watched Sanheim lately? At the start of the season, no doubt it was Sanheim. But right now, Risto is the best Flyers defenseman. He was always the best at killing plays in his own end, but he is adding back his offensive game now and is generating a lot more offensive chances than Sanheim is currently.

There is a big difference between saying that Hart was a better goalie than what they currently have and that he is a franchise goalie. You don't seem to understand that.

There are all different types of character issues. Last night he was completely uniterested in playing that game and even standing up for himself in the scrums he was in. That to me is an on ice character issue. What he did to the Flyers and how he direspected LeClair, Sharpe, Briere and Jones is a serious off ice character issue. The fact that he continues to not tell his side of the story, if for nothing else, to stand up for himself against the acusations the Flyers made is yet another character issue.

Michkov continues to impress me. Totally get why Gudas went after him, Michkov did not back off at all. Still more then willing to get in the crease to get a goal. Once he gets a competent PP coach and better center help, I expect many season of 90+ points.

I do understand that. To me Hart had everything he needed to be a franchise caliber goalie. Hart has been a winner at every level. He carried this team on his back last year, a team that clearly was a below .500 team. He could handle the workload. I'm sad he made the choices he did because I have no doubt him leaving seriously set this franchise back.

Very true. Compare Michkov to Gauthier last night. Michkov stood up for himself, which shows a strong character. Gauthier cowered and wanted nothing to do with the game, which shows weak character.

I think I agree with you on York, I think he is what he is. He has become a good defender that can play over 20 minutes a game in all situations, but he doesn't add much offense and can be overwhelmed defensively at times. I would not be opposed to trading York versus extending him if the right offer came along.
