The only fool, or should I say troll, here is you. You call yourself a fan but instead all you do is come onto this forum and bash everything Flyers. How sad you are. - jd250

I was complementary during the game last night, so once again, you're the fool. I compliment when something is done well. However, I am not going to compliment when I see more of the same (last decade +).
You lust to be the middle man in the triumvirate. As corduroy said: if Danny told you to eat sh&t you would lap it up w a smile. - Flyfly
If Tortorella said the sun wasn't coming up tomorrow in a presser, he would believe it.

One has to wonder if "Beat It" would have been as popular if it was released under the original name, "Beat It. A Married Man's Guide to Happiness".

100% - I get being positive but to the point of reciting everything that comes out of the Flyers organization's collective mouths is to the point of infatuation. He acts like a kid on the playground that always says "I was right!!." Most of the stuff I post is to just needle his terrible takes.
Up is down and down is up w 250.

I like Cates as a player but right now might be a good time to listen to some offers. - MJL

Reality is that it is the Flyers who are sad. They're an incompetently run organization
that makes the same mistakes over and over with no intention of changing how they operate. Someone like yourself who makes reasonable and objective observations of that doesn't make you sad. It just makes you informed and objective. Now someone who makes uninformed and fantasy observations not based on any reality and no matter how many times he is proven to be incorrect. Still continues to do the same. Well there's a problem there. |

Just because the Flyers keep Cates does not mean the Flyers are unwilling to move young players. For example, I think Frost and Farabee are two young players the Flyers could move on from. Zamula is another. Briere has stated all cards are on the table and he will listen to every offer, and other GMs around the league have confirmed this. - jd250
I’ll believe it when I see it with Briere. Frost is actually playing himself in to a tradable asset….Farabee probably has a couple of teams willing to buy low on him. I will give you this. Risto was easily their best d man last night. Briere has been spewing the same narrative for a year and a half. Great they have these guys they can move….now we just need a capable, competent GM to actually get things done. But I guess in Flyer land it’s more valuable to get into the top 20, just miss the playoffs and take the 23rd best prospect again…..wash, rinse, repeat. |

disregard the current play by Cates and I would still pick Cates. Frost just needs a change of scenery frankly. It is never going to work in Philly. I would expect that he is traded eventually.

I said before I see easily a 5 year 3.5 per deal for Cates. Now that he has continued to play well and produce who knows. I fully expect it by the EOM.
wonder if NJ would have any interest in Cates or Frost. They can use a 3rd line center. mind you a deal is unlikely. - login
Cates is 1 yr away from being a UFA. His agent will want his client compensated for giving up UFA years. Cates career high in points 38. He has seized this opportunity and good for him. He is maximizing his value right now. 12 months ago Farabee @ 5 million looked like a very good deal. Farabee has had 2 seasons with higher points then Cates career high and is younger. I would definitely explore his trade value.

what contract you giving him term and money wise? - login
I think he’s playing up to his contract….which was looking at an over payment a month into the season. |

Well said.
I grew up a diehard fan and still am but you can't discount the mess this organization has become over the last decade plus. They continually make the same mistakes over and over.
*If* DB makes moves at the deadline and offseason I will be encouraged. Although, I fully expect them to try and sign their way into contention when they get cap flexibility.

could not say it any better. we have had 3 years of evaluations and the triumverate are still evaluating? We know what these players are at this point. it is the truly the definition of paralysis by analysis. |

The website I use shows Cates as a RFA at the end of the year? Capwages.com. Why would we move a younger version of Scott Laughton instead of Laughton himself? If moving one or two vets is going to kill the “team culture” then that culture is on shaky ground to start with. |

he is a RFA after the year. Joel is in his 6th full NHL season. Cates his 3rd. Cates a year older.

that is what i thought as well. I think Farabee could use a change of scenery as well. Problem is if DB finally pulls the trigger he is selling low. I just don't see guys like Farabee and Frost bringing back that much. Maybe there is a hockey trade out there... |

exactly. not sure what else they need to evaluate aside from the goalie situation. |

cates is a better center than Laughton by a big margin imo. Move both.
Depends on what value Cates has that is hard to say to me. |

just a buzzword the dummy flyers fans eat up.
No way they sell if still in the wild card "hunt". If they were smart, they can be both sellers and buyers.

Three centers producing right now and your goalie is making saves. PP has also produced the last few games. Fun to watch. Do not think any of those three components will last much longer.
Helluva goal by Cates last night. - mickel25
Cates, and really that whole line is playing up on their toes and doing a great job. It would be very good for this organization if Cates can continue this. He is the epitome of a 200ft player who plays the right way…he doesn’t skate very pretty, but he’s very sound. If you can get 20 goals and 40 points out of a guy like that then that’s a keeper. Add in they through him out as a C when he had played wing most of his life. That’s impressive. |
