Oh really so it's beginning to be an issue I was wondering. I only took it a couple of times in the evening so I was fine.

Could Demidov come play if his team is eliminated from the playoffs this year?

- Fredo

The KHL season ends in April, so Demidov won't be able to play this season. Which isn't ALL bad because this way, they can't burn a year off of his ELC. So we will get him for the 3 full years of the ELC.

Yeah, I know it would be great to have him to end the season but I think having him on his ELC for a full season more is well worth the wait.

Look at Hutson, we already need to consider his next contract in July, hoping we won't have to pay him a crazy amount of money.

I've been thinking about this too! Wonder what his next contract will be? Especially since he's putting up ridiculous numbers, TOI, 1st PP already, point streaks, highest point/assist totals for the team/league, leading all rookies in points/playing time, and having the most assists all-time by the end of the year and possibly being 2nd overall for points by a rookie D-man only behind Larry Murphy from 1980-81!!

So far, Kent Hughes has done an amazing job keeping everyone around a salary structure that revolves under the Suzuki contract/comparable, despite contract inflation being a thing.

I think Hutson will be the first one to go over Suzuki's contract, by a considerable margin.

I completely agree. As it should be. This kid is a beast! And isn't showing any signs of fatigue at the halfway point of the season. There definitely won't be a bridge deal!

The only defenceman to win the Calder trophy for the Montreal Canadiens as rookie of the year is Jacques Laperrière for his 1963-64 season. The Calder votes that year were dominated by Laperrière who topped the voting at mid-season and at the conclusion of the season.

Will Lane Hutson follow?

RFA with no leverage.

It could be. 8x8 or maybe Hughes finds a way to give him a bridge contract? 2x6.5 and then 8x9?

he'd have my vote for sure. Celebrini is good, but what Hutson does as a dman is ridiculous

Not sure that's a thing anymore, at least not for top players.

I'd give him the big contract extension as early as possible, odds are the more you wait, the more he'll cost you.

8x8? Where do I sign?

When were they on pace for a 60+ point season as a rookie defenseman? Lots of guys are doing the take me to UFA train to get the biggest pay day they can with the cap going up.

oh you mean he'd make more than 8 per.
yeah, possible
my point is he won't get bridge.
now will it be 8M, 9M 10M per? impossible to tell

Quinn Hughes got 7.8M in 2021.

I don't know what % of the cap that represented but I'm pretty sure that's a good argument for Hutson's agent.

that represented almost 10% of the cap, so if the cap goes over 90M as projected Hutson could get around 9M per, following that logic.
