With all due respect, F you guys.
He's a player I like(d) and cheered for for 5 years. He did nothing wrong and i was sorry to see him go.
Now, he's getting his shot and doing well with it! I will post about his success if i feel like it. And it's not about bashing the organization, or anyone here. It's simply about celebrating a kid doing well when given a proper chance.
17:30 TOI and 3 more apples!! Good for him. |

Definitely expected him to pick up the production, but not a 76 point pace. Guess all we can do is root for him at this point. |

Maybe don’t put the guy with shaky confidence who has seemingly been cursed out there in the shootout after not scoring on 2 breakaways in overtime and go with someone else. Luckily it didn’t matter but I saw it coming a mile away - picklerick

I agree. Quit on a team, and you are not someone I want. Do it more than once... |

All depends. We get him for a Trouba type return, I’m absolutely making that deal. If it costs actual assets and young players, no thanks. |

Makes 0 sense. What I was thinking tho, was maybe Sykora and Bo were scratched bc roster players were being traded and they were the call ups. Having them involved in a trade for Miller makes 0 sense, but having them fill a roster spot as a call up makes sense.
Chytil and Kreider for Miller?
Chytil Edstrom Schneider? Who knows - nyrangers9479
Miller isn't our savior!!
No thank you |

Fair enough. I think it's a terrible take to say we shouldn't have traded him in retrospect though, which is what I was trying to get at |

I think it’s stupid that it got to the point it did and I don’t blame kakko much for it getting there. He was a good soldier |

Exactly.
And, as for the thinking that he should never have been moved, I only felt that way because he was literally the most consistent and dependable player on the roster this season. Not because he was some unmatchable talent. It was more the timing of it. |

A good soldier. Yes. But he was never gonna prosper here. I have no ill feelings towards him and wish him success.

My only gripe with the kakko trade is that most people fully blame the org. Some on the player as well. One under the radar was he played one full season in NY. Hurt a lot |

I hope to get a new blog up later. In NJ at rehab place with my mom. Zibanejad is snake bit, but if you don’t think he has been more engaged and played vastly better, then you haven’t been watching. The narrative of he needs to go has pervaded everything |

I had no issue with Kakko like some others have, but, this team, as its set up, was not complementary to his game. It makes me wonder how true that is for other guys like LAF who has been on a positive trajectory however incredibly slow considering the hype around him. |

High picks are better off going to bad teams. No pressure to win and a ton of ice time regardless. Dolan wanted to win the moment panarin signed. Regardless of player development. The team put more pressure on the players to progress quick and the org wasn’t slowing down to help |

He morphed into a solid third line winger. He wasn’t going to be a top six here in NY. They adversely impacted his development. Good for him that he is playing well in Seattle. If Borgen is re-signed at a reasonable rate or dealt for a solid asset, then the deal works for both teams. |

I had no issue with him being a middle six, 50pt guy. I feel like every team needs a steady player like him. However, incredibly mismanaged. |

It’s amazing how this blog is sometimes
Right now, since the new years ball landed:
-we got 14 pts out of a possible 18, and 6-1-2 record (vs some very good teams)
-we have strung together almost 3 straight weeks of solid team defense, where previously we couldn’t stop a nose bleed
-they’ve gotten past all the non sense of Trouba being traded which seemed to last forever
-the effort game to game can’t be questioned save for a period here and there
-they FINALLY have what looks to be a good shutdown pair in Borgen and Miller
-the team seems like it’s happy and unified again which didn’t look to be possible
Yet, all we talk about is how bad Mika is and how Kakko gets assists like crazy AFTER he cried to get the hell out of town because he was scratched due to his inconsistency. News flash!! Borgen has made us a better hockey now, then when Kakko was here and if we give Kaliyev some time, maybe he’ll ease the pain of it all. He’s been pretty good so far. He basically still in training camp mode because he’s barely played
It’s unbelievable how difficult this fan base is to please🤦♂️ |

TJ - this is how the fan base has always been. I have no problem with differing views, as long as respectful. Would be boring if we all think the same. But if Drury gives up Laf and/or Schneider in a deal for Miller, he is nuts |

Is anything I said not true tho?
I’ve enjoyed watching the team recently (aside from the Gotham app). The only time I think about Kakko is when I log in here I’m sure I’ll be reminded day after day after day after day tho. It’s nauseating. |

It’s human nature to want what’s not here any more, especially when that player starts to potentially live up to the draft location. They are playing much better, as they are engaged defensively and appear a lot more cohesive than during the losing skid. |

But Jan the fact that we even had to get to this point with Mika is inexcusable. We shouldn’t be hanging our hat on someone who is expected to produce and be expected to be a leader to be given credit because he’s showing more of an effort. He’s really turned me off this season because even when he wasn’t producing in the past, considering he’s been a streaky player his entire career, he always finished his checks and was never a liability in his own end. He’s really being exposed this season. He’s getting constantly out muscled in front of the net. He’s losing 50/50 pucks. Losing assignments coming back. Idk what the issue is but even though it’s been better lately and he’s showing more of an offensive instinct, I still don’t like his game overall. Perfect example last night of when he stopped skating by not coming back to his net and almost lost his man up ice. Even Joe and Sam said he was coasting back. Every game I can point it 2 or 3 times where he is directly responsible for a mental lapse. I just can’t co-sign or try to validate his play because it’s a little better from the beginning of the season. His +- is indicative of this regardless of what you think of the stat. |

Is it nice we've strung together some wins and the team seems to have figured something out? Absolutely. But Im a realist. As Ive said before, Im incredibly happy that this team is watchable again, however, I also know this team will not be a threat in the playoffs IF they make it. |

I think Kakko was moved for several reasons
1. They (Drury) liked Borgen a lot. And that’s bearing true because he’s settled everything down back there
2. They have wingers in Hartford (Berard)who could step into his spot where he was replaceable. And stumbled upon Kaliyev who is now playing there
3. Perrault. If the rangers are in the hunt by the time BC season ends, I’d suspect the plan is to sign him and burn the ELC year and he steps into the lineup.
4. I’m not sure Kakko was ever getting to the point this year where they’d feel comfortable extended him again, where a trade was the only thing they could do. His value was never good since the initial thoughts of trading him came out, or ever was improving this season. So Drury was probably in a tough spot with it where he had to get something because they may have lost him for nothing after the season
