Drawing penalties doesn’t hurt. However, there’s this big belief in the eastern conference in order to get to the finals you’re gonna have to beat Florida. In order to beat Florida you’re gonna need somebody like Hathaway.
- Eklund

Exactly Ek, that is why I think this Flyers team will be a playoff team if they can get decent goaltending the rest of the way here, as they have got the past 5 games. The Flyers gave up on 14 shots on a goal to a fast and highly skilled Devils team, and blocked over 30 shots! That is the type of hockey that wins in the playoffs. The Flyers more than any other team outside of the top 6 in the Eastern conference play the right way to win late season games and playoff games.

Fantastic road win against a team that has Stanley Cup aspirations. Great week.
- landros 2

Two big wins this week against two top teams. This Flyers team can play with anyone with decent goaltending.

Hate it but they are winning, should raise value of players, DB still needs to sell for a good price.
- wcorvette

I am doubting he will sell anyone if this team keeps playing like this which I think they will. Can only hope a team makes DB an offer he can't refuse, like 4 1st round picks for Scotty "rainbow" Laughts.

I see you keep saying the Flyers play the right way. How so? Do other teams have the wrong blue print? There is no such thing as playing the right way as there are many definitions.

First and foremost I want to be entertained. I would have rather they lost 6-5 in an up and down game. This type of hockey is like watching paint dry. It's like watching the last 2 minutes of an NBA game for 60 minutes.

Regardless where they all land come end of season/playoffs, if the Flyers are lucky and hit on 1 of them

We need 1 to be a star down the middle

Its the type of hockey that wins in the playoffs IF you have superstars and elite players doing it. It is the type of hockey that wins when you have the energy left to play that way, not having used it all up just to get there.

Every good team will play that way if they want to win in the playoffs. The difference is the Flyers have had to do it from game one, the good teams don't. The good teams will crank it up in March and start steamrolling teams like the Flyers just like what happened last year. They will have gas in the tank and the Flyers wont.

He’s highly impressive. There’s no question though that he has faced the two weakest defenses in the playoff field so far.

You could hold RR another year and rationalize it but expiring contracts like Laughton, no sir, just crap if they do.

No, it's not the type of hockey that wins in the playoffs. It's the type that loses. It's the complete opposite.

Even if they crawl into a playoff spot, both should be shopped actively. I’m not certain what a rr trade would look like. There’s have to be retained, but just to have him off the books would be great. I’d avoid trading the kids unless it’s a good return but anyone else other than mm should be on the table

you may be better off just letting risto's contract run its course until the last year then trade. unless of course you can get real value.

If they are rebuilding, they don't need the cap space yet. if they have to retain 50% they will then have to use that savings to replace him. they wi9ll not run out a "young" D imo.

Maybe wait I guess. But to me, if you could get a 3rd or 2nd with retained, we don’t need that space anyways. Most importantly, it opens a slot for a young player ie Andrae. Really chaps me that he’s not up with the big club. He was good when he was here and should be learning/ making mistakes at this level.

Also, while I agree that the team should make more slots for young players, as I remember, we have the 5th youngest team in the league so to me, at least that’s encouraging. I would consider brink foerster jd York z mm kolosov Add frost and Tippett as young ish players still finding their way and it’s not bad.

I do agree though that they need to come though on the promise of shipping out any vets for decent returns. I think it’s time for Laughton to go. Cates I like his progression but a decent return he should go. Any other vets. See ya for the right price.

DB is a calm cool collected GM. very methodical when you break it down. no urgency to make a deal just to make a deal. he is stressing patience. letting the team find its way. then decide a course of action.

Not sure I want to retain another spot long term. You assume they will call him up. He also plays the left side. Maybe they sell Risto and buy another Dman. As things stand today they keep him and the others many want gone.

As far as being one of the youngest teams, that is a farce to me. They only have a few guys who have few years or less NHL experience. I don't look at actual age, look at experience.

Risto, the Flyers best defenseman lead all defenseman in ice time, playing almost 24 minutes, had five block shots and led the second power play unit that scored the game winning goal. Noah Cates with another fantastic game clearly the Flyers best center and what can you say about TK top 10 in the league and scoring clearly the face of the franchise.

I added to my previous post. I think there’s a good amount of youth on the team but I agree I would like more. If Luchanko is ready next year, I’d be all for having him in the lineup. He needs minutes though. Can’t be 4th line 10 mins a night. My sense is that he needs more seasoning maybe in the a which is also fine. Wrt rr, I want them to move on from the bad overpays like his so the sooner the better. But if that’s next year and no retained, so be it.
