Andrae was legitimately a difference maker when he was up. He was their 3rd best defenseman in my opinion. Find the right mix and don't keep a better player down because you don't know how to put a team together - MJL
define that please. |

My sense with him is that he’s a ways a way. Pretty good defensively but a lot to develop on o. He was just made the captain of Guelph so give him a year in that role and then see where he stands. I think the a would help him as I see his path. - Hextall271
I agree …I was hoping he would get moved but that didn’t happen. As the new captain hopefully their team is better next year…they have some talent but are young. I’m hoping they let him play another full season in the O. Just because a kid can beat out the likes of Ryan Poehling I don’t think it helps his development to rush him in anyway. |

I'm catching on.

Honestly though, they are not going to sit Risto in favor of Andrea. What’s the other option? Sit Zamula? Drysdale? They need to play too. The lineup is what it is right now. Is it really that strange to have a kid who is ready for the NHL stuck in the AHL because there’s no room for him? |

Waive EJ, have Andrae, Zamula, seeler rotate in and out. |

I agree they're not. It is strange that on a mediocre team that is supposedly rebuilding that there is no room for a player that is better than 4 of the defenseman that are on the team. |

But he’s small and moves the puck well and they already have a few guys like that. - Dkos
Sarcasm alert again but that’s an absolute no. |

Later in the year when we’re out of it, seeler can sit and watch imo. |

There are plenty of tradeable players between now and next season that probably wont be here, too old to contribute, or could sell high when the Flyers are true contenders again.
-Laughton
-Hathaway
-Poehling
-Cates
-York
-Risto
-Zamula
- Seeler
Did not place Couts on list because of his contract. TK and Tippett not on the list-already extended. Briere has the chance to reshape the team massively if he is willing to put the "For Sale" out. Also, be realistic with the returns. Nobody is giving 2 1st for Laughton. Don't need to move everyone listed, but this list has to start being cut down. At best, the roster is fringe wildcard team. Not good enough. Status quo will not work. |

I would take Cates, York and Poehling off of that list. Not untouchables but players that have value to keep. Only untouchable is Michkov. Listen on everyone but there are players that need to be moved and then those you trade in a good deal. |

That's fine. I actually forgot about Farabee and Frost. We can all agree they are no where close to winning the Metro. Even if all the players under 25 on the roster continue to improve, it still is not good enough. |

Yes, other teams do not play the same structure and do not have the willingness to block shots and do what it takes to win games. This is the only way this flyers team can play. They don’t have elite talent, other than Michkov. With decent goaltending the flyers have enough to be a playoff team and be a tough out. - jd250
Understood. Excluding the top 6 in the conference, the Flyers play the right way and the others do not.
Other teams do not have a willingness to do what it takes to win. Odd take. Guess they don’t have a good culture or room. |

Yet they're winning more games than the Flyers. Go figure.
Somehow Tortorella's formula became the winning playoff structure to play yet he hasn't won in the playoffs in 20 years. Go figure.

Risto, the Flyers best defenseman lead all defenseman in ice time, playing almost 24 minutes, had five block shots and led the second power play unit that scored the game winning goal. Noah Cates with another fantastic game clearly the Flyers best center and what can you say about TK top 10 in the league and scoring clearly the face of the franchise. - jd250
Going to be sick of looking at that face as a washed up 38 year old, if he is still even able to play at the tail end of his contract.
He is fun to watch right now, and NOBODY disputes that..it is what will be left of the player when he is almost 40, with injuries and such taking their toll. We won't know until then, so constantly posting "face of the franchise", etc, etc about how he is playing in his prime seems a bit dumb to me. The concern will always, and has always been how he will be playing as a 37 year old.

DB is a calm cool collected GM. very methodical when you break it down. no urgency to make a deal just to make a deal. he is stressing patience. letting the team find its way. then decide a course of action. - login

That contract proposal will buy 3 yrs of UFA for Cates. He would be 30 at the end of that contract. Not suggesting your proposal is wrong, I think this will be a tricky negotiation. My assumption the agent would push for a short-term deal (2 yrs or less) or more long-term (6 yrs or more). The agent will also highlight Cates is now a center, not a winger. More value to the team, who has very few centers. |
