It was Miller they were trying to trade. They were left with no choice but to trade Horvat when Miller couldnt fetch a desired return and Horvat wouldnt come down on the ask. All parties involved were open about it and their comments all in line.

IMO, Lafreniere is still a bit of a question mark. Does he ever live up to the hype? His career has been Meh so far.

Rangers are 4 points out of the wild card race. Not exactly sure how much they want to invest into Miller at this point. Do they want to risk not making the playoffs after rushing into a blockbuster? I think they are trying to get him on the cheap and are reluctant to swing for a home run. It may be next season when he turns 33 before they get what they need him for.
