I don’t think they have the cap space to take him on.

Nor the young defenseman needed, but Samberg is a decent defefenseman, just not a shiny type.

“A source close to the Penguins has informed @TheRGMedia that Kyle Dubas is looking for a fire sale.

Big name veterans, not simply just pending free agents, are up on the trade block and the Penguins are also willing to retain to move out Erik Karlsson.”

Pittsburgh is basically home for JT.

I have no idea why Miller needed a leave of absence, but I assume it is a mental health issue, which I don't find funny, like you seem to.
- Reubenkincade

What a bad faith comment, I said nothing of the sort.

Dubas should be banned from the league for trading for EK in the first place. It was worse than benning targeting OEL

They are not going to be able to replace the good things Miller brought entirely with a 1 for 1. The combination of skill and power forward... good luck.

With that being said, need to get him away from the younger players on this team.

- boonerbuck

I completely agree with this. Miller is a special player that brings a bunch of different, and positive, things. He is, however, EXTREMELY overpaid, which can divide a locker room...especially when your captain is a 20yr old beta-male (I like Hughes a lot, but this is true).

From afar, I say let Pettersson do his thing without Miller since Petey is so much better than him. Then, in a Miller trade try to recapture what Miller brings with 2 (maybe 3?) new players. This will also move one or two players off of the depth chart into the minors, which arguably improves the team even more (removing weak bottom players). I like what Miller brings but if he is paid as a top 3 guy your team isn't going anywhere. Both because he just isn't a top 3 guy and also because of the potential infighting/jealousy that might occur when overpaying a meat-and-potatoes guy over other more skilled players (especially when those players are also...relatively weak-spirited beta-males...haha...sorry, it's a bit true).

I'd be looking to trade Miller for a 2nd line centre with grit, leadership, and attends more to the defensive side of the game, and a mid 6 energy guy that can play 200ft. I'd also try for a 3rd bottom 6 roster player.

I don't think you guys are in as bad of shape as some of you think. There are some great pieces to work with in Van and you should get a decent return for Miller. (Zabinejad is just more of the same in my opinion).

Get rid of Garland, he's possibly worse than Gallagher with their little 5'6" antics...just go away, it's a man's league. These little halflings with dumb energy don't help the lineup, and just take up space.
(I thought this before McDavid's very suspendable crosscheck).

Anyway, it's fun to poke fun at the shi77y Canucks when they're winning but I lived there for several years and it's not as fun watching things go horribly wrong. I hope it works out...I think it will.

A lot of this post makes it very clear you don't watch the Canucks or understand the makeup of their roster.

Miller is not really overpaid for what he brings, he's worth more than you're estimating, and your take on Garland is shockingly wrong, he's the highest scoring Canucks forward this year, not to mention the highest effort player on the roster besides maybe Sherwood.

Canucks had their Dice and Ice event last night... apparently Miller was not there:

“Miller not at dice and ice. ‘Food poisoning’ the reason"

Someone on Reddit went and posted this:

- NewYorkNuck

I will say this: I met Pettersson at an event with my son and he was so kind and generous with his time spent with my boy. He was funny, articulate, and most of all very kind. The thing that surprised me the most, was that he was not small and weak looking AT ALL. I would even venture to say that he looked big. He's in incredible shape, as most NHLers are, but he really surprised me in terms of his size, his confident presence, and his overall demeaner. I had this guy pegged ALL WRONG from watching him on television.

Miller was at the same event and he was a bit reclusive, nervous looking, and didn't chum around with other players etc. He was one of a very small handful of players that didn't come around the group of elite boys in attendance.

Boeser was there too and he was awesome, all smiles, talked to the boys more than the average.

I'm biased, but I'll take Pettersson and Boeser, who have been there for so long, over headcase overpaid Miller every day that ends with Y.

fair enough, I watch the Canucks approx. 10 to 15 games per year.

but Garland highest scorer is a tragedy. He should be a 3rd liner energy guy (assuming he's liked by teammates).

He’s worth more but unfortunately with most of these trades when you’re getting a package back for 1 good player you’re going to get underwhelming pieces that never add up to what you’re sending the other way.

Watch it. JLO is famous for his threats on the oilers thread of beating you in the boardroom as well as on the street. Says he’s a big time bond broker/trader.
