He is and he's actually having a terrible year 5v5 offensively as well.

For a guy that gets 60% OZ and lots of time with the big4 his GF/GA per 60 is total bullpoop.

Rielly GF 2.25 and GA 2.46
Tanev GF 2.74 and GA 1.95
McCabe GF 3.46 and GA 2.13
OEL GF 2.83 and GA 2.13
Benoit GF 1.92 and GA 1.82
Timmins GF 2.25 and GA 1.54

And his history of 5v5 offence isn't that good ...since the 18/19 season.

- The Law

Siegel did a pretty good deep dive on it yesterday in the Athletic.

The sorta kinda conclusion: he's struggling with Berube's system, which is asking him to do less.

My guess ..they sign a cheapish OF that can fill in for Varsho while he recovers and sign a veteran starter on a 1 yr flyer.

Grichuk and Scherzer or something like that maybe.

When you say 5v5, does that mean it doesn't include when the opposition's goalie is pulled?
- Atomic Wedgie

Ya, Leafs suck with their own net empty so a bunch of guys have skewed numbers b/c of that. Rielly is 2-11 (GF-GA) with an empty Leaf net.

Can you believe my son and I sat down in front of the TV right after Josh Anderson's goal thinking we would have a good time?

- Scabeh

I mean you probably had fun for a little longer... but the leafs determined it wasn't meant to be.

You crushed the rangers the next day though!

I can top it.

We were in Sutton. Went to a bar to eat and watch the game.

The food was atrocious and the atmosphere was dead.

We left at 3-1. Mrs. Wedgie was driving, because c'mon, it's Leafs vs. Habs.

We were staying at a place that has a treacherous hill up to the cabins. We slid sideways and went into a ditch. Just kinda straddled it - the right tires were still on the road.

Tried to dig out for about 30 minutes. Gave up, called a tow truck. He took over an hour to get there because he himself had been stuck.

Watched the last 10 minutes of the game on my wife's laptop while waiting for the tow, then went out and paid $200 for a very nice guy (not kidding, he was great) to do 3 minutes of work.

He's not wrong but if Siegel dove deeper he'd see that Rielly hasn't really ever been close to even "very good" at 5v5 offense other than the 18/19 season.

He's had a couple of "good" 5v5 offense seasons but they're outnumbered by "meh". And when you consider this guy spends most of his time with 34, 16, 91 and 88 and gets the most OZ start/time (ie. the ball is placed on a tee for him as opposed to someone like Tanev) it's terrible.

I know it turned into a mess for them on Saturday and good job by the Leafs for stepping up. I think Woll was the difference as he kept them in the game with some pretty amazing saves while Montembeault needed to make the save on the Leafs 3rd and 4th goal.

But the Habs are playing really well, it's been fun for the past 20 or so games.

Exactly
That’s the rumour

Dhaliwal said the Hurricanes talk is picking up this morning with Miller.

Mentions Canucks have liked Kotkaniemi and Roslovic before.

In 2018?

They would be demanding picks and good prospects because those would be cap room warm bodies.

Rod the Bod tends to breed high end scoring out of his players, but even with a fresh start I think it's hard to expect more than a 50 point season as a peak these days.
