they sent him New Hampshire. they may just leave him there..but then what a total waste. he cant hit, but Varsho hasnt hit much either

Straw was a bad get. Let's be real here. It was a dump for the guardians and I don't know another team looking to take that on without a sweetner. The jays got the international money pool as their sweetner.

When you say 5v5, does that mean it doesn't include when the opposition's goalie is pulled?
- Atomic Wedgie

Specifically. yes. So it's not 3 on 3 or even 4 on 4. It only measures even strength 5-on-5 - which is basically, on average, 48:45 (or about 81% of a game) this year.

Realistically Rielly is not a good defenseman - and we all know this. They've taken away his power play opportunities - or diminished them greatly, and his points reflect that. The thing is that is 5v5 scoring isn't particularly good this year so far either.

OEL is 18th among league defensemen at 5v5 with 16 points.
Rielly is 50th with 12 - tied with Jake McCabe, who has played 9 fewer games.

I realize it's just 4 points . . . but at this point last year, Rielly was 8th in league scoring at 5v5 with 19 points. OEL was 44th with 13.

The year prior Rielly had been injured but he had 9 points in 34 games to this point of the season - which is close to where he is now. He was much better in the later part of the season (at least offensively) - but for Rielly to justify his contract, we need him to be a successful play driver.

And I think Profar is an everyday OF (and looking for Santander type money) so not sure they'll add another one of those. I figure it's more DH/Rover kind of bat they add.

Can you believe my son and I sat down in front of the TV right after Josh Anderson's goal thinking we would have a good time?

- Scabeh

ouch.

I sat down when it was 1-0 and then suddenly it was 3-0.

I poured myself a scotch thinking it very well might be to drown my sorrows if things didn't get better (for the Leafs).

Wild game for sure.

no

6 skaters no goalie counts in plus minus

- senstroll

Also PP goals against count, but not PP goals for. PK goals for count, but not PK goals against. Rielly also has -3 for the PP goals against. To be fair that one feels right. You have the man advantage. Surrendering a short-handed goal is usually due to recklessness.

Ouch, not sure he'll get that. But if that's the case then yes, no chance for him.

I can top it.

We were in Sutton. Went to a bar to eat and watch the game.

The food was atrocious and the atmosphere was dead.

We left at 3-1. Mrs. Wedgie was driving, because c'mon, it's Leafs vs. Habs.

We were staying at a place that has a treacherous hill up to the cabins. We slid sideways and went into a ditch. Just kinda straddled it - the right tires were still on the road.

Tried to dig out for about 30 minutes. Gave up, called a tow truck. He took over an hour to get there because he himself had been stuck.

Watched the last 10 minutes of the game on my wife's laptop while waiting for the tow, then went out and paid $200 for a very nice guy (not kidding, he was great) to do 3 minutes of work.

Go Leafs Go

Yikes!

CAA is a worthy investment for the peace of mind, even if you don't use it all year IMO.

My wife has the gold CAA membership (whatever that means) and we have used it almost every other year for something. We needed a new battery in her ride one year and the battery cost was cheaper through CAA than anywhere else - they charged something like $50 to install it. So after the savings on the battery it cost us something like $20 to have them deliver the batter to us, install it and haul away the old one.

Money well spent since it was in Jan and cold as anything outside!

Yeah, I'm a CAA member as well. It's not that costly for a pretty good service.

One year our friends car broke down, I drove my wife to them in our car, she called CAA to save our friends the cost of a tow because her coverage applies to any vehicle as long as she is in it! lol

The one time I needed CAA, they left be bum(frank)ed on an ice hill with a downed tree in the middle of nowhere outside of Bancroft (did The Office Google Maps meme). The local lads had to tow me out and joked that I was the 9th person to fall into that trap...$420 later and I was starting to wonder if they were the ones that pulled that tree down...

Wow - I didn't realize it was so cheap.

This was the first time I ever would have needed it, but for $75 or $119 a year, it would be good piece of mind for when my wife is driving without me.

I had read similar AAV but less term. I think they go after a DH/4th OF type like maybe Bader or Grichuk. Both cheaper but they're stuck with Springer 2 more years.

They also might grab a veteran starter on the cheap. Atkins just waiting on the market to drop.

Your WTF? Leafs stat, courtesy of the Athletic:

The Maple Leafs are getting plenty of experience clinging to narrow advantages, which seems to be paying off. The team is 16-1-0 when leading after the first and 20-0-0 when ahead after two periods.

not overly surprising since they have the best shut down pair now (Tanev Mccabe)..which is a wild thing to say as a leafs fan.

Said it was too dangerous for their tower to get me and that they couldn't find my car. I had to walk 35 minutes up the snow trail to get a signal. I got to claim $300 back, but it was pretty nasty.

Siegel did a pretty good deep dive on it yesterday in the Athletic.

The sorta kinda conclusion: he's struggling with Berube's system, which is asking him to do less.

- Atomic Wedgie

I wonder if there is a mcCabe like deal for a RHD with term. That deal was their best TDL add in a long time.

Technically it is still an add for this year with him being 2M still.

Go back to the well for Connor Murphy?

EF mentioned Oleksiak on the radio yesterday, who I know for certain plays both sides well the past few years. Not too up to date with his play this season.
