Habs are 13-6-1 in their last 20 games.
If they keep this up, they definetely have a chance to make it.
Being the underdog is fine, we always were in 2021 and made it pretty far.
 - Scabeh
If you project according to point totals, there's a three-way tie for the final wildcard - Boston, Montreal and Columbus are all on pace for 89 points (Ottawa projected at 93 points for the 1st wildcard).
I'm cheering for you. |

Oh, I know, but I can't pass up an opportunity to rub salt in the Habs' wounds.
You don't have Carey Price this time though - Whipper
True.... Sometimes it saddens me to think we finally have a good group of players coming up and we never managed to give Carey that kind of offensive support.
Poor guy had to win 2-1 games his whole career.

Definitely a bit of a failure on Habs management to not capitalize on having the best goalie in the world for a few years on the roster.
Arguably the best goalie in history to never win a Stanley Cup, almost wish they had traded him to let him go get one before it was too late, he deserved one.

You were a mod and never bothered to do anything about political posts. The clique in here are a bunch of hypocrite liars.

This is so wrong it's laughable.
I deleted political posts (left and right) and asked people to stop posting about it all the time. I didn't leave politically based posts up and in fact some people got bans for it (both left and right minded folks).
I have also never posted anything political either left nor right here nor will I so you can take a step back and stop. Just because you love to come here and post your political viewpoint doesn't mean anyone wants to read it.

Not sure I like that Jarnkrok is back on the ice. Can we put him on the 3 month Kucherov/Stone rehab plan? |

Not too smart eh?
The 1st bolded part is wrong.
You come here to post BS all the time, rarely anything hockey related.
The 2nd bolded part just tells me you've falling into a cult hole.

If it keeps Holmberg, Reaves and Kampf out of the line-up, it's a good thing. |

Sad part is that they need eachother. The extremest on each sides just create more of a monster for the opposition. Just insecure lost people who want to be heard and right so bad. |

I wonder if there is a mcCabe like deal for a RHD with term. That deal was their best TDL add in a long time.
Technically it is still an add for this year with him being 2M still.
Go back to the well for Connor Murphy?
EF mentioned Oleksiak on the radio yesterday, who I know for certain plays both sides well the past few years. Not too up to date with his play this season. - Santo_44
Oleksiak hasn't really played any meaningful RD minutes since 2021 when he was paired with Giordano for a spell. Seattle has used him almost exclusively on the left side the last 3 seasons. He's a big boy and really with them tying up Larsson, who would've been my only real defensive target on that team, I don't know . . .
I will say that right now in the NHL it's really tight. Who's really out of it? Buffalo, Anaheim, San Jose, Nashville, Chicago and maybe the Islanders, Utah and Seattle.
There's no realistic target that works on Buffalo, Anaheim or San Jose.
I don't believe the Islanders sell and if they did the guys you'd want - Dobson, Pulock or Mayfield would likely not be available.
Utah doesn't really have anyone that fits the bill.
Off of Nashville lots of people want Schenn back, but I'm not really one of them. He's 35 and objectively the Predators are a more effective without Schenn on the ice.
Go back to the same well with the Black Hawks and ask about Connor Murphy? Realistically as bad as they've been, they are worse when Murphy isn't on the ice.
Out of all the options, and it's been commented on for a few years, Murphy off of Chicago is still the best of the bunch - but they need to keep some guys around to build from. I'd still take a swing at it. |

If their plan is to keep him I’d rather him be back and get some regular season games in.
Only 2.1M cap, very manageable. |

Murphys stats remind me of McCabe. The team looks way better with him on the ice but doesn’t have the offensive skill set to tilt the ice however on a good team that can change.
Well they can make a decision on keeping Jones or Murphy…I think the easy decision is keep Jones and trad Murphy with retention but that’s just me.
They need a C first, then they can evaluate why they can get on D.
Berube says Hak is almost ready for what it’s worth. |

Might be some cap issues if they need to squeeze his money back in. Although I'm sure they'll work it out as part of the trade deadline. |

I like Jarnie, he's very versatile, plays some D and gets points.
Last year he was up and down but hoping he can get back to his 22/23 self.
But he has to play to get back into game...just not sure who he takes out. |

From what I understand from a cap perspective the leafs have room to add Jarnkrok and Hak. Plus a few others, assuming lay on expiring deals where they will retain.
I expect some sort of double retention on a player that will bring their cap hits to the 400-650K range like they did with Edmondson to help create room.
Also will likely trade Benning for 100K cap space, maybe bury Reaves for some space as well. |

San Jose has Ferraro and Vlasic.
Chicago has Jones with the right amount retained could work if used correctly.

The one thing the Leafs are actually the best in the NHL at is playing with the cap. I'm never worried about that part. |
