It is such an old forum format.
Before the dot com boom in 1994/95 many nerds were using dial-up sites - with different forum boards. There was, in the GTA, two multi-line chat boards Metronet and Opticomm which featured chat rooms, private chat, online ASCII games (I recall a few ANSI ones, but they were less common). But the forums from that time, these were typically single line sites. You know . . . you'd call up and if it wasn't busy, log in, read other poster's comments, leave your messages, and then log off and so on . . . many of those commands are used in the BBCode model used by this site.
So this structure predates the dot com boom. - Monkeypunk
coming back to this post its stuck in my mind..I didnt start out on old bulletin boards, got my first home pc in 1997. and used chat rooms and such. and the more I think about it, this site being super ancient and out of date..maybe its not so bad lol.
everything else is AI'd crap, algorithmed to death..bots ..most of the people are fighting on twitter with bots. getting riled up and angry by design.
basic text based chat is how we started out. not memes and ticktaks up the ass
ah the good ol days ..right?

Attaching drywall to metal studs involves a few specific steps and tools.
Steps to Attach Drywall to Metal Studs
Measure and Cut Drywall:
- Measure the height and width of the area where you will install the drywall.
- Use a drywall knife or T-square to cut the drywall sheets to the appropriate size.
Position the Drywall:
- Place the drywall sheet vertically against the metal studs. Start from one corner of the wall, ensuring it is flush with the top and bottom.
Secure with Screws:
- Use self-tapping drywall screws designed for metal studs.
- Space screws about 12 to 16 inches apart along the edges and in the field of the drywall.
- Make sure to drive the screws just below the surface of the drywall without breaking the paper.
Continue with Additional Sheets:
- Repeat the process for additional drywall sheets, ensuring that edges are staggered for better structural integrity.
Finish the Joints:
- After all sheets are installed, tape and mud the joints with joint compound to create a smooth surface.
Tips
Use a drywall lift if you're working with large sheets on ceilings or high walls.
Avoid over-tightening screws to prevent damage to the drywall.
Pre-drill holes in the metal studs if you’re having trouble screwing in the self-tapping screws. - Fakepartofme
Now do just regular studs. |

My all-time favourite was when Ek said Burkie (GM of the Leafs at the time) was aggressively pursuing a trade with Colorado for Marek Svatos.
It was so random, and so NOT what Burkie wanted on the Leafs. I kept asking Ek for updates for years.
Of course, I stopped when Svatos died. The rumour died with him. - Atomic Wedgie
That's hilarious.
The Svatos joke you should have made sooner though.

Working with metal studs takes a knack, I've learned.
I also learned I'd never arm wrestle a tile guy cause holy (frank) buttering those big tiles is hard on the arm

I literally wouldn't argue. The availability of _some_ reliable information or YouTube how to Videos or even some thinly veiled envy for the youth of today with such easy access to porn... All good stuff. The bots designed to create chaos and misinformation and generally the worst of people comes with it!

1. lol Joel Stalin.
2. C’mon, I’m going to assume you know AOC isn’t a Nazi. Look man, it’s good that you think Nazi’s are/were bad. Again, I’m assuming that’s your view. But you cannot ignore the pattern of consistent dog whistles coming from Elon. From supporting the AfD, to receiving praise from prominent Nazi’s like Nick Fuentez. You have to pick a side. Either you support Elon which makes you a Nazi sympathizer at a minimum, or you’re not. You can’t dance around this like you do with everything else. You don’t get to make up your own label. |

Only -18 rn. But it was -30 to -35 for 5 days prior. -40’s w/windchill.
This cold air moved east, that’s what Ottawa’s getting.
Always a good day for skate on the canal. |

Ya, we're in the ass end of the "polar vortex." -40 is nasty, haven't faced that in about 3 years thankfully. |
