I agree. They need to atone for their sins. Hold a press conference, admit it was a horrible contract, tell the fanbase that the kid is out of shape and doesn’t take hockey seriously. Share information about his video game obsession and fashion dreams. Toss him on a Flair airlines flight to buffalo and erase his embarrassing contributions from our memory - CanuckDon

The Canucks are headed down the Benning path once again, I can just see it. This is a failed franchise and it always will be. They just don't know how to get out of their own way.
Ok, but you're completely ignoring key factors in his performance and saying he just has to get over it. LOL....ok caveman, it doesn't work that way. Especially not an apparently soft kid like him. - Pacificgem
Whatever they're doing right now isn't working either. And let's face it, caveman or not, there's very few problems a good ole bag skate doesn't solve.
This is a perfect example of why the Canucks have never won and Cup, and probably never will. They've continually been poorly owned and managed throughout their history. We're witnessing yet more examples of it.
Over pay a kid, don't address a well known locker room issue, blame the kid for not performing up to the overpaid contract you just gave him....trade him away and start the Benning years all over again. - Pacificgem

The problems are well documented, we all know what they are. Petey had 15 points in Miller's ten game absence. Miller is obviously the issue with the coach and the players. The working environment in there must be very eggshell'ish.
But I can see them trading both of them away, Miller will get you nothing more than a bag of pucks and a late pick. Petey will get you more but it'll be some kid who has potential but they traded him for a reason and he never pans out...now Hughes is pissed and he walks away as he wants nothing to do with a dysfunctional franchise.

Here comes the Benning years all over again... - Pacificgem
Your boy can’t try when Miller is playing? Wow what a leader!! Should have been $12.6!

I don't know, I'm not in the room. I think everyone but Hughes is having a "down year" with the stress and distractions in the room, it's not just Petey.
Miller's having a bad year, Boeser's having a bad year, Hoglander's having a bad year, Garland hasn't scored in 20 games....it's not just Petey who isn't performing up to expectations, it's all of them.
"I can confirm that Vancouver had talks with other teams as recently as this past week regarding Pettersson, as well. So it remains as it ever was. The Canucks could trade either Miller or Pettersson and perhaps even both when all is said and done between now and next season."

They could trade both or none, either now or later or never! Endless possibilities Lebrun
If they start the process now, hopefully it will only be a 6 year process.

It's six years to being competitive again and then another four years where they'll be Cup competitive. It's a ten year process, unless you get a generational talent, but that doesn't even work sometimes. Look at Edmonton.
