Miller is a cancer, trade his selfish, immature ass out of there.
Then trade Pouty.
Then Boeser.
Then Demko.
And then put Desharnais on unconditional waivers.

Not sure if this has been posted, but pretty exacting piece from the Globe and Mail on a conversation with Rutherford:

What we've all sort of discussed, but hearing it straight from Ruthy with no beating around the bush makes it certain.

I just read that, interesting stuff, those two clowns have basically broken and divided the room.

It's so embarassing that 2 multi millionaires can't just figure out how to work in the same dressing room, the way they have been doing for years. It's so insanely short-sighted of them both to just toss away everything the team built up last season

Interesting, so you want to lose a generational defenseman. A player the likes of which this franchise has never seen in it's entire history.

I don't think it's that simplistic. If you trade one of Petey or Miller you gauge your return, maybe it works great, maybe not.

If it doesn't, you trade the other and again, gauge your return, you should get some really good pieces back, but if it doesn't you then have to trade Hughes and start all over. But you're two moves away from starting an entire rebuild in my opinion.

I doubt Hughes wants to leave after Desharnais is waived. Try and be smarter.

“If we were going to completely start over that means he goes,” Rutherford told the Globe. “And we’d like to figure out a way that he’s here forever.”

Trading Miller, Pettersson, Demko, and Boeser equates to starting over.

He's suggesting a fire sale, not moving 1 guy. It's there in the article, Hughes isn't staying for another rebuild.

Ya I think Ruthy is letting everyone know what's coming with that interview. It ain't good, fan base gonna be mad at whatever return.

I think they trade Miller soon-ish, see how the room reacts, and trade Petey before the draft if it's still not working.

Like Ruthy said, they can use what they get from the trades to flip for other players, just like they did for Hronek.

If everything fails, complete rebuild and Hughes gets shipped.

What other team has ever had to do something like this before? There are so many examples of cup teams where guys on the roster hated each other's guts. Ffs just get a sports psychologist in there or bonk the two guys heads together until they figure it out.

Obviously I'm fine with it if they can trade Miller for a somewhat decent return, but if this team decides to tear things down and rebuild again after the last decade of BS I might stop watching them entirely.

Well, Benning's disastrous years at the helm aren't going away overnight. It's a flawed core led by 2 immature misfits. One trade at a time.

Obviously they need to make moves, but anything they do should be with the intention of keeping and building around Hughes in mind. The Canucks have never had a player like him in their over 50 years of existence, you don't let guys of that caliber go

I have no idea, but I'm sure it's not the first time a team has had to. We're just over-saturated with information, especially in this market. There's things we're clearly not privy to, so something is so fundamentally broken it's taken multiple coaches and GMs to reach this point.

Rutherford clearly doesn't want to tear it down, and he's not aiming to. He wants to do a re-tool ASAP. But, if that doesn't work, Hughes isn't gonna re-sign so their hand would be forced.

Not much we can do about it right now, so may as well just see how it all unfolds.

I look forward to 20 years from now when we finally find out what Miller did to Pettersson that he won't forgive him for and that the team made him take a leave of absence over

Cozens and Power

Keep miller keep Boeser
Cozens 2c

Overpay Eklblad to get him in Fa

Hughes Hronek
Power Ekblad

The one that was a win away from the conference finals a year ago?! God it's amazing how many of the posters here have just been waiting for this team to not do well

Some of us pretty much already have, as some have zero confidence in this core. Rather they start the process now, before I get to old to remember whether the team won or lost a game.

I find it amazing how many posters get fixated on the 1 hit wonder season.

This sums up how I think about this team too, they had a good thing going quit being selfish and get back to work.

While the Canucks try to trend with wins. The noise and lust for trades continue.

I don’t see the Canucks as Sellers if they are in a playoff position. They have zero urgency to trade anyone who is not a UFA.
