The more I read about JT Miller the more I wonder if the Leafs should take a run at him. Is he really the 'locker room cancer' the media portrays him out to be when just a year ago he was being touted as one of the best players in the entire league?
I'm just not sure but part the problem is he is at 8M for another 5 years after this year, big gamble that some team will take that could really pay off.
I'd do a Reilly for Miller swap for sure right now which would almost be salary in / salary out.
I'm not sure if Vancouver will retain any salary but I do like the thought of AM as the #1 C, JT Miller as the 2nd line C and Johnny T as the 3rd line C at a really low cost. - Cush29
A morgan for Miller swap would be great but A) I dont see Morgan waiving, B) I think miller wants to go the states (so they say) and C) that could cause a big hole in our D, specially if another top gets injured. |

Apparently Miller is really liked by most of his teammates.
It seems like Miller has called out Petterson for his lack of worth ethic at times.
Im sure Miller is no angel, but he doesnt seem like a "nightmare". - Fakepartofme
OHL, Rangers, now the canucks.
He also looks like he doesn't give a (frank) on the ice right now, that is a nightmare. This is 100% a nightmare scenario for any team |

Agreed.
Not sure if the leafs would be hands down better, but Miller brings some qualities the leafs could use and he's a 100pt + player (i mean marner is pretty much as well).
Does miller play on the pk, is he good defensively? I really dont know....but marner is pretty darn good in those areas. - Fakepartofme
Miller for Reilly (and something fairly m'eh if needed) now and keep Marner as a rental and try to get him to re-up for a fair cost.
If it looks like Marner isn't gong to do that move his ass too, DO NOT OVERPAY just to keep Marner, who says he wants to stay - leverage the fact you know he doesn't want to play anywhere else, it's rare for Toronto players to actually say it.

Except the vast majority of Millers team mates love him. He holds others accountable. Maybe not always the best way though as some softies can’t handle it. The Leafs would be hands down better with that trade. Marner will never waive though. - TurdFergeson
Allegedly the other clashes were with Lundqvist and Rakell. Maybe he just hates Swedish meatballs? |

Shhh Vancouver fans might hear you!
Hometown top pairing, puck moving, PK playing, offensive D man comes home.
THAT'S THE HEADLINE THAT NEEDS TO BE SOLD TO VANCOUVER.

I’ve said it many times. He ain’t waiving to go anywhere. The wifey wears the pants and she’s never leaving T.O.

Fair points but let's just pretend Morgan is ok with going "home" & Miller wants to come because he sees a potential cup winning team. I think the hole created isn't too big to fill because Morgan has not been good this year. That being said if this happened the Leafs would have to do a package to get a minute munching D man for sure - but they could likely swing something with what they have as far as assets IMO.
It wouldn't be a top pairing guy but Morgan is really a 3/4 guy anyway. McCabe and Tanev are your top pairing.

OHL when he was a kid - ya hard to hold that against him.
Rangers who are a hot mess and Canucks by all accounts who are the same? There could be fire there but all I see is smoke right now.
Do you blame him for looking like he doesn't give a (frank) right now? I don't, his team / owner/GM has actively said they want to move him and have let this linger for way too long.
I will go out on a limb now and say wherever he goes he will look like the happiest guy to be there and will be a force. Will that last as long as his contract? Who knows but right now he will go somewhere and light it up.
That's my prediction & I"m not opposed at all to that place being Toronto.

Not a lot of D available via FA this off season.
I feel as if they will overpay Marner, but if he goes, use his money along with some of JT's to get a top 4 D...Ekblad? A lot of unknowns.
But ya...Morgan for Miller, keep Marner this season, grab a 4/5 dman.
Could work...but they still need a 3C |

Ya and Gretzky wasn't getting traded ever nor was Raty not going to re-up in Colarado.
You know as much as I do about this, which is very little.
He may not think he wants to play elsewhere but if approached on it his opinion could change.

JT Miller 2nd line C
Johnny T 3rd line C
For this year when Johnny T is back?
The depth at C would be close to if not top in the NHL.

Gretzky wanted to be traded. Rantanen was a shocker sure.
I’d say 99.999% chance that none of Mitch, Miller, or Reilly are waiving to move to Toronto or Van. I’ve never been wrong, but I’ve been mistaken a few times. |

I don't think there is a snowballs chance in hell Vancouver takes our poopty, overpaid Dman in exchange for a player with Millers upside. They certainly aren't going to retain (for 5 years?!?) unless it's a big added piece going their way. It's a pipe dream.
MR doesn't waive, either.

Having someone in Toronto who calls out their teammates would be pretty new, I can't remember the last time there was a Leaf player who did that. Hell the former head coach tried to a few years ago and had to walk it back! lol - Cush29
