Just curious if there are any advanced fancy stats that track how goalies handle the puck....?
I'm wondering how Woll-Stolarz compare to other goalies in the puckhandling department.
Having a goalie who is skilled with passing and handling the puck is like having an extra D-man back there at times. Nothing I have seen out of these two gives me strong feelings one way or the other about their puckhandling.
Like, how many handling attempts result in a clean breakout? How many attempts result in a turnover? How many lead to a goal (assists) or how many lead to a goal against?
A good and confident puckhandling goalie can change how an attacking team dumps the puck or tries to ring it around the boards. I'd be curious if any of this has been statistically quantified.

sure it would, but all teams have to overcome injuries.
Also I think Stolarz being a beast early on hid some of the issues. - senstroll
What's to say he won't return to being a beast when he gets back? A lot of teams have players that step up to make up for deficiencies in other areas of the team. There are very few great teams that don't have some area for concern, and we have a TDL coming up to hopefully patch up some holes. |

Trade for Ian Cole so we can have the Caber and Tanev pairing back.
Then get Jarnkrok back plus add 1 or 2 good bottom 6 players.
Isn’t a difficult TDL, easy holes to fill Tre better get it done. |

From the eye test, they both are pretty poop at it. Stolarz in particular is a guy that screams "STAY IN THE NET, THAT'S WHERE YOUR BIG ASS BELONGS!" |

One of those 2 players are a nightmare to have around. There is a common denominator there and I wonder who it is. |

It's hard to say because Miller has had issues in junior, the Rags and now the Canucks, but Pettersson has only been with the Canucks and has been called out by the org about his "preparation." They might just both be different types of female genitalias that just don't mesh and happen to be 100 point level capable superstars instead of replaceable guys. |

I could totally see Miller instigating a lot of the issues, Petterson is weird and quiet from what I have read and seen from him.
Crazy how lockeroom issues can derail a team like this.

The Vancouver locker room has more drama than a Spanish soap opera - Whipper
lol it's a combination of a great many things in ol' Van Town. Now we are hearing Aquilini is interfering again which Rutherford early on said he wouldn't put up with. Rutherford hinted at it in his last interview. Bottom line is it would be nice if these babies could just buck the f uck up and be pros and play Hockey. |

Only other teams are allowed to have superstar goaltending that hides flaws (i.e. Vancouver last year), Leafs must have superstar goaltending AND no flaws in any other areas. No team has rode superstar goaltending to a cup final or cup win, definitely never has happened. Ever.
Haven't you learned anything here?
And yes this is sarcasm and not directed at anyone specific but it does feel like Leafs Nation kinda' feels this way more often than not. |

Except the vast majority of Millers team mates love him. He holds others accountable. Maybe not always the best way though as some softies can’t handle it. The Leafs would be hands down better with that trade. Marner will never waive though. |

Except when they lose in the regular season, then it matters - Santo_44

Apparently Miller is really liked by most of his teammates.
It seems like Miller has called out Petterson for his lack of worth ethic at times.
Im sure Miller is no angel, but he doesnt seem like a "nightmare". |

The more I read about JT Miller the more I wonder if the Leafs should take a run at him. Is he really the 'locker room cancer' the media portrays him out to be when just a year ago he was being touted as one of the best players in the entire league?
I'm just not sure but part the problem is he is at 8M for another 5 years after this year, big gamble that some team will take that could really pay off.
I'd do a Reilly for Miller swap for sure right now which would almost be salary in / salary out.
I'm not sure if Vancouver will retain any salary but I do like the thought of AM as the #1 C, JT Miller as the 2nd line C and Johnny T as the 3rd line C at a really low cost.

Agreed.
Not sure if the leafs would be hands down better, but Miller brings some qualities the leafs could use and he's a 100pt + player (i mean marner is pretty much as well).
Does miller play on the pk, is he good defensively? I really dont know....but marner is pretty darn good in those areas. |

Having someone in Toronto who calls out their teammates would be pretty new, I can't remember the last time there was a Leaf player who did that. Hell the former head coach tried to a few years ago and had to walk it back! lol
